bloome Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 I am graduating with my undergraduate degree in December of 2018 with a double Biology/Medical Sociology major. I am pursuing my masters in social work because I want to continue in the medical sociology field and work in a hospital but don't want to do a PhD program. I would absolutely love to find a duel degree that included a sociology masters, but schools that even offer sociology masters program without having to complete a PhD are almost impossible to find. I was just wondering if anyone else knew any schools with solid sociology masters programs or anyone in the same boat as me!
limonchello Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Terminal masters programs are actually quite common, just not at R1 schools.
iwearflowers Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Have you considered an MPH with a social/behavior emphasis? That might be a bit more marketable/give you more hard skills than an MA. Also, many programs will allow you take classes outside of your program, so if you find a social work program that you like, you might be able to take some sociology courses to round out your areas of emphasis.
