carlyma Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Hello everyone! I am usually one to lurk on these forums but I have quite a predicament. I studied for the GRE for a few months now and here are my results: Manhattan test 1: 154Q 149V Manhattan test 2: 154Q 155V Manhattan 3: 154Q 152V Manhattan 4: 152Q 153V So.. pretty consistent.. and I took my official GRE today and *drumroll please* 146Q 144V I am pretty devastated since this is my 2nd attempt (first scores were 147Q 147V) with little prep and no practice tests. Needless to say, I prepared a lot more this time and felt much more confident. I can see going down 2 or 3 points but this is kind of a major decline. The last practice test I took was 2 days ago so pretty recent and I did a "mock test day"-- meaning I literally wore the same clothes, ate the same breakfast, took it at the same time... etc. I am looking forward for your input, as I am very desperate and discouraged.
E-P Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 It kind of seems to me like you're stressing yourself out, which is affecting your performance. if you do end up taking it again, I would stop all studying a few days ahead of time, do some relaxation exercises, etc. What program are you applying for? Do you have a sense of what you "need?"
elx Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Seconding @E-P about having a rest before test day! You might also want to look into applying to programmes without the GRE requirement (a list). Dwar 1
