kendallryan Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Hi all! I've been lurking on here for a while and taking in all of the wonderful advice. I'm just now beginning the process of looking into programs, deciding on post-bacc/leveling options (out-of-field applicant), and putting all of the puzzle pieces together. I just applied for USU's post-bacc program. I'm mainly concerned about the letters of recommendation aspect. I graduated undergrad in 2017 with a degree in Sociology, so I feel that LOR from my professors in the soc department would not be as impressive. I currently work in Early Childhood Intervention and luckily work side by side with SLPs daily, so I think I have my bases covered there. Has anyone had luck with receiving LOR from USU professors through the online program? Also, if anyone has any advice or recommendations for making an out-of-field application stand out, I would gladly appreciate it! Looking forward to getting to know more of you as I continue this crazy process!
zurako Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Most of the professors at USU are very willing to do it if you ask early. I asked two professors in September and after providing them with my info they submitted in a week! It's probably rather generic though so I supplemented with a strong recommendation from work.
CaidanFire Posted August 11, 2019 Posted August 11, 2019 (edited) The USU professors are more than willing to provide LOR's. Its actually part of their job. Be sure to ask WAY in advance and give them what they ask for and more if it will help them to get a better picture of you. Remind them how well you did in their class. When you took it. What you took away from it, etc. Understand though that most will wait until you have completed the course so plan accordingly. Remember that they write alot of them so ask early and submit the documents and submission links to them as soon as you can. Edited August 11, 2019 by CaidanFire
