Hi!  Has anyone been accepted into the Jan 2020 cohort for Emerson or applied to any other online programs such as NYU, Baylor?? How long did it take for you to hear back?

I'm waiting and it's super nerve wrecking being it's my 2nd time applying for speech.

Thanks!

Hi! I'm currently a student @ Baylor for their online cohort, and it took me a total of 6 weeks to hear back from them.

Hi there! I applied to Speech@Emerson, Speech@NYU, and Speech@Baylor early last month for their January 2020 cohort. I was accepted into Baylor a few weeks later and just did an interview for Emerson. Have you heard back yet?

It would be great if we ended up in the same cohort ?

Im actually applying for May start date 2020 to Emerson and Baylor, working on my Letter of intent.. Any tips? or if you could post yours so i can get an idea on how to start mine. I'm so nervous and feel like i don't know how to begin.

I feel like the best thing to do is write about the personal experiences that have shaped you to become passionate in the field, whether its a cousin who's had speech therapy, a class you found interesting, research you did in your undergrad or a volunteering experience that brought you to the career; you can't go wrong if it is something that you personally identify with. I think that they look for that connection.

Another great tip is to have it read over by multiple people, so they can let you know what resonated with them, what parts confused them, etc. so that you can get your final draft clear, concise and impactful.

I personally wrote about the classes I took, some of my volunteering experiences, and my work as a SLP-A, which has all brought me to solidifying my desire to become an SLP.

Please reach out if you have any other questions! Good luck with apps!! :D
