StraightOuttaSpeech Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Good morning Speech World!! I recently received an e-mail with an offer into the CSUN CDS program and I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the program, other than what is written on their website. Any grad students, currently enrolled or recently graduated, that can give any details on their experience in the program? I got into Emerson and CSUN and so I am trying to choose which to attend. I recently found out I am pregnant as well, so I want to make the best decision so I may have a healthy pregnancy, be able to continue working FT to support my growing family, and attend school. If you can answer any of the questions, it would be most appreciated!! Thank you and congrats to other students who I saw were recently accepted. Questions: -How is the coursework/workload? Survey claimed students spend 4-5 hours a day on coursework and that seems extreme. -What are the modalities of teaching? (All online powerpoints? Are there video recordings of the professor giving lecture? Is there a class time where you sign on at X time to meet with the class? -Do you have any clinical placement information? I read that we find our supervisors. Do they allow you to choose your place of employment? Can you be at the same location more than once if it has multiple populations in pediatrics? -Any insight into working FT and attending CSUN? Is it doable? -Is it truly 100% online? Do I ever have to go on campus for any form of Immersion, etc?
MadisonMachelle Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 bump because I'm interested and their website doesn't have much info! (I'm interested in residential program)
KEIM Posted November 7, 2019 Posted November 7, 2019 I would choose CSUN because it's probably less expensive than Emerson. For me, cost is the number 1 factor when it comes to deciding program I will attend. Online programs are SO expensive. I would jump at the chance if I got into CSUN.
