So here's the situation. I'm applying to a program with a due date on January 10th. There's a professor I want to ask for a recommendation but I screwed up for the last school I asked this professor for a letter for and asked them a week before the deadline. They let me know they weren't happy that I'd done that, and now I feel like I'd be doing the same thing that I did before. Has anyone been in this situation or can speak to the other side of what the professor would think? Am I just over-reacting (probably, but what if...)?

Thanks!

You can give it a try, the worst that could happen is if they say no. If you have another option I would ask someone else, but if you think this professor's reference is vital to your application or if you don't have alternatives, then I would just go for it.

Good luck!

I mean if it's a similar phd program then they should be able to use the same letter that they did before. So it's like 0 extra work. They literally just have to upload the letter. I would just say ask and if they give you attitude then they give you attitude. But that seems very odd
