  1. @akjbri Did you apply for the masters or the phd?
  2. Its still stays under review for my application too and Im applying for the phd. I don't understand why they don't just send everything out at once.
  3. Same here, no change in portal. Let’s all hope for the best!
  4. Looks like decisions from Toronto are out based on the the results page.
  5. @sulkytofu No problem, glad I could help! Good luck with your applications!
  6. Most often the application requires your references to submit their references online, but this may depend on your department. As for myfile, it does take a long time to receive the email. Last year I was tired of waiting for the email and I eventually ended up calling the graduate department and they gave me my login information because I never received the email. They said sometimes we don't even get the email for it! Also if you have applied to York in the past, such as in your Bachelors and have mentioned it in your application, it uses the same student number so you can try that as well. I recommend calling the department of graduate studies if they are still open and request for your login information, if you haven't received it already. Good luck!
  7. You can give it a try, the worst that could happen is if they say no. If you have another option I would ask someone else, but if you think this professor's reference is vital to your application or if you don't have alternatives, then I would just go for it. Good luck!
  8. I recently accepted my offer to York and my main reason why was due to the funding package and as @Albetheth mentioned they aren't giving you free money, there might be some stuff that incoming students are unaware about, but that being said I still decided to accept my offer because the other university I applied to gave me no funding and they mentioned having little prospects for ta positions. So, it all depends on which offers you are comparing it to, for me a fully funded offer was more attractive even if I don't end up securing a ta position though I really hope I do!
  9. That's great! Good thing u found the offer later!
  10. The letter was dated March 2nd so I think they will probably release them throughout the day today. U still have some hope! Be positive!
  11. I go to accepted into the MA program for sociology at York! I checked my myfile and it still says no decision yet but I got an email this morning. Hopefully those that are still waiting for a decision have some chance for an acceptance! Keep ur hopes up guys!
  12. I really needed this have had a really bad day today (unrelated to applications) but just reading these words calmed me down! Thanks a ton!
  13. Ok thanks, just so tired of waiting!
  14. Is this just for the Ph.D programs or for the masters programs as well?
  15. Hi everyone, I couldn't find a thread for masters in sociology for Canadian universities this year so I decided to make one! I would love to know where everyone has applied and how application season gone so far!
  16. Hey everyone, I just wanted to create this thread for people who have applied to Canadian universities in psychology aside from the clinical field. I would love to know where everyone has applied and hows the wait going for everyone!
  17. First of all thanks for the response I feel a little relieved now. I did get an email from them using the email address I provided them on the form. Under the status of my application it says pending but when I click on the application all of my documents have "initiated" on them, but still near the top it says "this application is incomplete". Like you said it does mention that the graduate program manually switches it to complete once they go over it, but I think I will email them just to be sure.
  18. Hi everyone I have applied to McMaster for a masters in psychology and recently when I was checking my status I saw that they have issued me a McMaster email address but I don't know how to access it to see if they have sent me any emails through there. After submitting my documents I did get a confirmation email using the email address I wrote in my application and in the letter it said that they would use the email address I gave them as my primary contact but on the portal it doesn't have that email it only has the one McMaster issued me. Can someone help let me know how to access it thanks! Also my application still says incomplete even though all the documents have been submitted and have the status of "initiated" on them, is that concerning because the deadline for the application was Dec, 1st I believe. I have heard that this is something McMaster does as they only switch between incomplete to complete when they have made a decision but if anyone could confirm this it would be great. If anyone could provide any insight it would be much appreciated thanks!
  19. I agree with both @rising_star and @fuzzylogician that I should focus on submitting my best paper but do you think they will look unfavourably on my writing samples if I don't have this additional information? I could try to contact the professor for the guidelines since all of our course information is available on a portal that closes at the end of the semester, and gets replaced with new courses so I personally don't have access to the old assignment guidelines nor have I kept a record of what marks I have gotten on my assignments prior to last semester. So even if I do get a course guidelines, I doubt I'll get the previous marks that I received.
  20. Thanks for the feedback GreenEyedTrombonist ! I think your right, it'll be helpful for them, it just restricts the amount of options I have for papers that I can submit since I don't have the assignment outlines for most of my past assignments, only the ones that I have completed within the last few months.
  21. Hi khigh, Thats what I was thinking as well, I might just do that, it just seems a little weird to me since I havent seen any other applications requiring the instructions
  22. Hi everyone, I am finishing up one of my applications and one of the requirements is a sample paper. I have read their requirements and I'm confused about one part of their requirements: Your sample paper should be approximately 15-20 pages. If you don't have a 15-20 page paper, please submit two smaller papers; i.e. submit two 8-10 page papers. Please ensure that you submit a clean copy (no grades/comments included). Your writing sample does not have to be in your proposed area of research, but rather, should be the paper that you consider to be your best work. Please ensure that your paper has a title page which includes the following information: (i) course number; (ii) course title; (iii) your name; (iv) course director's name. Where possible, please also indicate the grade you received on the paper as well as a copy of the course assignment. It says they require a copy of the course assignment, does this mean the rubric of the assignment, or the actual sample paper. My application is due in a couple days and I'm not quite sure what this means. I have contacted the graduate admissions before but they are really hard to get a hold of so I would like you opinions on what it means. Thanks a lot!
  23. I have a question that somewhat relates to this thread. I was wondering what happens if we are still in school and the universities require our transcripts which include courses that have not been completed yet. This has happened to all of my applications, they require unofficial copies right now but want official ones later on. I still have one semester left of my undergraduate and so one semester of my courses are still in progress, but I was wondering are we allowed to change our courses still without it having a big effect on our application? This is because I know a lot of students change courses before the semester as spaces open up last minute and having sent all my unofficial transcripts already I am wondering if our unofficial transcripts show different courses from our official ones even if it is one or two courses that are different, will it make a difference in the application? Just curious if anyone has changed their courses after submitting their transcripts and if they could share some insight on this. Thanks!
