prospectclin Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times but I'm applying to Clinical Psych programs and I'm curious to know how people handle being accepted to more than one program. Clinical is unique in that I think you hear from the prof you applied to about a decision directly. So my question is - if you hear back from your second or third choice that you've been accepted - do you just wait to get back to them? I'm worried it will impact the relationship if you take too much time to get back...
PsyDuck90 Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 There is usually a deadline that they give, so as long as you are within that deadline, you are fine. Also, I think the stats estimate that an individual has about a 1-3% of acceptance into any 1 program and a ~10% chance of being accepted at all to a clinical psych PhD.
Modulus Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 Clinical psychology PhD programs will not force you to make a decision until April 15th (http://www.cgsnet.org/april-15-resolution) but both programs and fellow applicants would appreciate that you release any offers you are not seriously considering much sooner.
