Hey I have looked around here a bit but have not seen the answer... It is a long the same lines as those asking about science recs for ASHA. I am looking at what stats class to take and want to take the easiest one to fill the requirement. I am planning on taking my pre-recs at UW Madison and am looking at Psych 210 Statistics for Psychology. Has anyone taken it? Does anyone know if ASHA will accept it? The more obvious choice is 301 Intro to Statistical Methods but the pre-rec for that is having satisfied the Quantative Reasoning A requirement and I am an adult returning student and I have no idea if I have met that requirement....

Hi! I would reach out to your advisor and ask him/her if they think that would satisfy the stat requirement for graduate school and ASHA. If the course shows up on your transcript as a Quantitative Reasoning I think you should be fine but I would still ask. Best of luck!

Hi! I'm finishing up my bachelor's in CSD at UW-Madison right now, and I took Psych 210 to fulfill my stats requirement. QR-A is something you can test out of if you took placement tests, or you can use the Course Search and Enroll function to find QR-A courses. You can also run a DARS if you're a degree-seeking student, it should tell you if you've satisfied the requirement or not!

Thanks guys! That is super helpful! I did check my DARS report but I didn't see anything on there pertaining to QRa... I was never an undergrad there though I just did the CSD capstone (which is basically a post bach to get all the classes I needed in CSD for grad school, although I did not heat all of them in the program). I also did a what if report and still didn't see anything, but maybe that means I have fullfilled it and don't need it? That is good to hear about Psych 210. Those who have taken it, did you need R or Rstudio for the class?

I did not! My class was scheduled for a lecture twice a week, and one 50-minute lab per week. We were in a computer lab in the Psych building, and used SPSS on the University computers. Since you have a bachelor's, I'm assuming you took a math class in undergrad? That would probably count for QR-A, so I think you're all good there. If you have the free time and ability, I would recommend getting familiar with R if you're at all interested in research! It has a pretty steep learning curve, but I know the lab I work in (which is in the Psych department at UW) uses R and R Studio for a lot of projects. Good luck!
