Clinical Practicum Supervisor Offered to Put in a Good Word to help get off the waitlist?

Recommended Posts

I'm on the waitlist for my undergraduate institution, and it is my top choice to attend. My clinical supervisor from my on campus clinical practicum told me she plans on putting in a good word to the admissions committee in hopes of it helping get me off the waitlist. I didn't ask her to do that she offered. Do you think that would help my chances if a supervisor from the university clinic is advocating for me? Or would it not have any effect at all?  She had asked if I plan on continuing to attend the program for my masters and I had told her if I get off the waitlist yes.

Since she offered I don't think it hurts, she might know something you don't about the way the admissions process works at your school. If the question was posed "should I ask someone to put in a good word for me" i'd say no since at this point things are pretty set in stone. You're waiting for someone to drop out (which with COVID seems possible) and then for anyone ahead of you to turn down the spot. Good luck!!! Glad to see you're at least accepted somewhere :)

Thank you! I would never ask anyone to put in a good word but she said she really wants me to attend because she enjoyed supervising me so she's going to email someone and put in a good word. I really do hope I get to attend I just wouldn't want to annoy the admissions committee since I'm not the only person who would like to attend.
