Hi!

Im looking to apply to some child psychology programs this year, specifically UBC and UofC. I am wondering if anyone has any experience applying or currently attend these programs. Are they extremely competitive like clinical psychology programs? What are typically GPA's and GRE's of those admitted? How essential is having an exact research match to gain acceptance? Or any other advice you may have! Thanks :)

Do you mean School Psych programs?

I'm somewhat familiar with the School Psychology program at UofC. I have a number of friends who applied this year and a few were accepted. They are not as competitive as clin psych programs, but its getting up there for sure. From my understanding, you do not need the GRE for UofC. GPA would be less competitive as clin psych. With any program, I think similar research interests does help bolster your application.

I know a few of the profs at UofC prefer it if you'd worked with them previously, so it may be a good idea to reach out to see if you could be an RA for their lab, or work on a publication together. Good luck!

Thanks! Unfortunately, I do not live in Alberta so it may not be possible for me to RA for my POI. I'm having a difficult time accessing their admissions data for information regarding how many students are accepted per year, GPAs etc. I do have a good research match at UofC, so I will definitely reach out to my POI soon.
