totoro1984 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Hi, How does it look when an applicant doesn't submit GRE math subject test scores to a program that "highly recommends" it? Will my application be ignored or not given as much attention because they're not part of my application? Thanks in advance!
bayessays Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Besides Stanford, these schools generally will admit qualified domestic applicants without a subject test. Geococcyx 1
MathStat Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 I agree, nobody cares but Stanford. Not even Chicago, Berkeley, UW, Columbia etc etc. Although as a funny story, one of the Duke stat faculty told me they like to see the score if you wanna do research in math stat. Duke also used to say on their website not to bother with sending the scores as they won't look at them. Gotta love academia MLE 1
bob loblaw Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 (edited) Because of Covid, it'll be really difficult to take the paper-based test anyway. I just finally got to take the general test recently and I think they closed down my testing center today lol. Even Stanford waived the requirement for this year https://statistics.sites.stanford.edu/phd-req-procedures Edited July 3, 2020 by bob loblaw
