socspice Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Have you heard of any programs that are making GRE scores optional rather than required for the 2021 admission cycle? (due to Covid) I know of Iowa, but are there others?
socspice Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 UT-Austin and Michigan are also on this list. Any others?
Ghostu Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Cornell has made it optional n Johns Hopkins has waived it
sluggerotoole Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 UC Santa Cruz have waived it, Minnesota Twin Cities have waived it. USC have said: "Students who are unable to take the GRE in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic will be given full consideration and may be admitted without taking the exam."
whooshboosh Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Rutgers is not requiring GRE scores:Â "GRE scores - DUE TO COVID-19, GRE SCORES ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR FALL 2021 ADMISSION" -Â https://sociology.rutgers.edu/academics/graduate/admissions
lkaitlyn Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Many of them, honestly. It might be easier to make a list of the schools that aren't doing this.
julesevar Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I live in Missouri and found out that The University of Missouri is no longer going to have a PhD program in Sociology. Probably not on the radar for many on this forum but concerning.

I hope they're getting support until they defend.
