PsychedToBeHere1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 (edited) Based on how this year's application cycle went, how do you think next year's cycle will go in terms of GRE requirements/competitiveness ? Edited March 6, 2021 by PsychedToBeHere1 PsychMamaof2 and T.O.hopeful 1 1
justacigar Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I'm hoping the GRE will continue to be waived, if not completely removed as a requirement for some programs. Competitiveness is only going to increase year to year. I would expect similar if not increased competitiveness next cycle. PsychMamaof2 and PsychedToBeHere1 2
PsychMamaof2 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I am also hoping the GRE is waived and/or removed as a requirement. I understand universities want competitive applicants, but I do think the GRE causes excellent diverse applicants to be missed over. Standardized tests in general are racist, classist and sexist. LavenderGoat Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 Sharing the same sentiment as the other answerers here! If things go according to plan in the US and every adult is vaccinated by the end of May I could potentially see some schools requiring the GRE but that's on shaky grounds. At this point I have no clue whether requiring the GRE or not will hurt or help anyone. Personally, my GRE score is just okay if not a little lackluster compared to my GPA and other application attributes. I really don't want to spend an additional $205. So I'm praying that the GRE gets waived. Good luck to us in 2022!
