Does anyone know if there's a Waterloo MPH Facebook group/forum?

Just curious when you were accepted?

I apparently cannot figure out how to reply to your message so I'm just writing a separate message it seems. I think my offer letter was dated around Feb 17

Great, thanks. I’m still waiting and it seems like no one has heard from them in a while

Yeah I think a lot of schools are working through their waitlists and getting back to people. I'm still technically on the waitlist for Brock mph. Not sure if I'll get a rejection letter eventually or if I'll just never hear back

For those who got into McMaster and accepted your offer, have you gotten any further information yet on how we can pay our deposit etc.? I haven't heard anything from them after accepting my offer aside from a confirmation email about my acceptance!

Also, I created a Facebook group for our class! Please message me if you want to join! :)

Hi everyone! I need some advice. Between McGill and University of British Columbia which one is better for public health(qualitative/mixed research) research? I have offer from both and I am confused which one would be better.

Just got into Western MPH from the waitlist, can anyone provide some insight about whether the one year program has a clear advantage or whether there are some drawbacks?

I would have a look at how many professors are in the program, or affiliated with it, that have published qualitative research. Have you applied to a thesis-based MPH? I'm not familiar with the schools personally. It might also be more important to find professors with mixed methods/qualitative research experience in your area/population of interest if you have one. They would be able to connect you with others who focus on that area/have helped them in their work.

Getting support for a mixed methods thesis can be very hit/miss as you'd need a professor experienced in that or a supervisory team willing to help with both parts. It can take longer to pass ethics as well. I won't say it's impossible, but unless you're familiar with qualitative research, I don't think the single qualitative course that most MPH programs I've seen offer will set you up very well. If it's your first foray, qualitative research can be a lot to learn (multiple epistemological/ontological approaches to choose from) You will definitely want to supplement that with a lot of your own reading. I took a qualitative course during my MSc., but personally spent months learning theory and methodology before I was comfortable submitting my study design to ethics.

Hi everyone, I was recently admitted to Westerns MPH and LSHTM Health Policy Planning and Financing MSc program. I am stuck between choosing which would be the best fit for myself. Any advice? Thank you.

Can anyone confirm if the UofT MPH Epi program is eligible for OSAP? The DLSPH website mentions that master's students can apply for OSAP.

Hi!

The program does qualify for OSAP. The school will also sometimes provide funding if the OSAP does not cover all of your tuition. Im speaking from my own personal experience but you should contact the school and/or OSAP for more information regarding funding.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
