MeganK Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for anyone applying/hoping to start at Fordham for January 2022. I just recently applied and I'm at the point where the people writing my recommendation letters just need to finish them. This is my first choice in schools and I'm already anxious about getting in. LOL I've been working part-time for the last 6 years on a Bachelor's in Family & Human Development from ASU and I graduate (finally!) in December. Anyone else here applying to Fordham for a January start?
Dr.EJM Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Congrats on your ASW graduation! Well earned! and best of luck with Fordham!
Kev1988 Posted September 1, 2021 Posted September 1, 2021 Hey. Good luck. I also applied to Fordham MSW for Jan 2022. My application is complete. I am just waiting on a decision now. Let’s hope we get some good news. Dr.EJM 1
abhilashgujar Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 When are decisions for spring usually posted?

I think that depends on when you completed the app. Sept 20th was priority deadline. So applicants who applied before that date will likely get the decision soon. I imagine in the next couple of weeks. Looking back at an old thread here for Fordham MSW Spring admissions 2018, I see a couple of applicants there mentioning they received their acceptance notification on October 2nd 2017. So maybe first week of October? Who knows. I can’t find anything else. All other Fordham MSW threads seem to always be for Fall admissions. Regular app deadline seems to be November 1st.
Kev1988 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I just read a thread here from 2020 after more searching, where an applicant said he received an acceptance from Fordham MSW Spring 2021 on October 5th 2020. So it appears that for priority deadline students, you should expect to start getting decisions on 1st week of October. Just speculation though. Don’t take my word for it.
MeganK Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 I didn't get into Fordham for Spring 2022. It is probably for the best. It was my first choice of schools but I already accepted University of Kentucky back in July. I just heard from Fordham on 10/9. I say it's probably for the best because the program was quite a bit more $ than KY. Good luck to all still waiting for your decisions! Kev1988 1

Thank you for sharing and I am sorry to read you didn’t make it. I also applied to three other schools that are cheaper than Fordham per credit by hundreds of dollars. Fordham is my first choice too and the max I will pay (or max i’m willing to take out loans for). The 3 others are public schools. SUNY U at Buffalo, Florida State U, and U of Central FL. I am being pessimistic on it though, so that a rejection won’t sting as hard. I trained my mind to expect a rejection from Fordham and FSU. My heart will still sink after a rejection, but won’t be hurting for too long and I am at peace with my “backup” schools. I attended UB for a year and a half and I loved the school. I still have my UB sweatshirt lol.
MeganK Posted October 11, 2021 Author Posted October 11, 2021 Kev1988 I'm glad you applied to other schools. For me, it was so frustrating waiting for Fordham, it was 4 months and I talked to a few people that were Social Workers and they said it really doesn't matter where you go, as long as it's an accredited school with CSWE. I thought about it a lot and then when I found Kentucky, it just made more sense. I accepted Kentucky long in July so I wouldn't be tempted if I got accepted with Fordham. I know that sounds a little messed up LOL but Kentucky would've been around 20k more total for the program and that's a lot of loans to take out. Those are all great schools you applied to. I was thinking about Buffalo too but I think they had live classes (?) and that is something I wanted to avoid since I already have a lot on my plate. Good luck! Please reply back with the outcome! Thank you, I have my fingers crossed! Yeah, it absolutely does not matter. All they need is CSWE-accreditation. I mean maybe a little bit, depending on location. Where I live now in the West Coast, my supervisor and coworkers didn’t even know about Fordham. I am from NY which is why I know about it (I moved away from NY like 4-5 years ago). I want to get into Fordham basically because they have the courses I am interested in, and I like their term plans, the one that is 1 course per 7-week semester. That would be perfect for me. I did read that on UB’s online MSW page. But they also list that the synchronous class dates will be provided to the students by the beginning of the semester. This makes it a bit better because my supervisor is flexible with schedules when it comes to school. I work three 12’s also, so I have 4 days off per week. All I would need to do is show her the dates and she will schedule me accordingly. Good luck to you as well and I will update your thread once I get a decision.
Kev1988 Posted October 21, 2021 Posted October 21, 2021 I feel a bit bad to update this but I said I would report back. I have been accepted to Fordham’s MSW program.
