Please stop messing with the spreadsheet and please stop changing the formatting etc. It's gotten to the point where it's not functional anymore. I think I speak for most of us when I say, just fill in your info and leave the rest alone.

Thanks

Can someone please fix the spreadsheet? Someone messed with it and now it doesn't show the names of the countries and regions.

WHAT?!? Ugh. Lemme see if I have previous versions saved ... I might need to make it private for a while to FIX this MESS. Ugh.

Sorry if you were just on the spreadsheet and got kicked off. I didn't have time to look through ALL the revisions, but I had to revert back to an edition from this morning. So if you entered/changed information since this morning (PST), please check to make sure it's there!

Here's the link: https://spreadsheets...bnc&hl=en#gid=8

Thanks everyone for keeping an eye out on this! I appreciate it!

Do we need a google account now? It says Welcome to Google when I bring it up.

Why did you decline?? I bet it was a hard decision to make!

I got a funded offer from the top MA program in my field--they have an insane placement record. And there were visa issues for my girlfriend. And, most importantly, the cold. Seriously. Ughhhh. I'm from Montreal but I've lived in California for the past 14 years, I can't deal with that stuff.

Well congrats on your MA plans :) Sounds exciting!! Usually people who apply for these awards have plans A, B, C.. hence why there are alternates! Glad you finally made your decision, it always feels better afterwards!

I think you answered the question. There are 1.5 to 2 times the number of finalists, however, not all of them will get the Fulbright. Those other 15 will not all be alternates. As we've seen, people who have made the first round, have also been rejected for the final decision. So it's hard to what the exact number is, but it will definitely depend on each program/country and the amount of money they have. For example, I know last year Turkey had last minute funding and I think, almost funded all their alternates? Something like that. So it's definitely not a set number ... I don't think. But also, not all of those folks who didn't get the grant are alternates.

Do ETA's get rejected? The last time I saw the spreadsheet it looked like only Full grants were rejected. Then again, it could be that no ETA's that have been rejected have been using the spreadsheet.

ETA's must get rejected, at least for certain countries. I believe they follow the 1.5 to 2 rule as well, so I would find it hard to imagine it is any different, my friend got eliminated as a finalist for en ETA to Sweden last year.

By the way, any Norway news out there?!?!

I still can't see the spreadsheet.

I'm not sure what's up. It seems everyone else can log on. Did you try closing out the window and opening it again? B/c when I check the spreadsheet there are like 6+ anonymous users, meaning they don't have a Google account. And the settings are for anyone with the link. However, Google docs doesn't function very well when there are too many users. And sometimes it just craps out and I need to close out the tab again. But it is up and running ...

EDIT: Yes, you were right. I was giving the link to when I was logged in. HERE is the right link:

I'm sure you have made an alternate very happy! smile.gif

It sounds like you know what's best for you. Best of luck with the MA program.

Hmmm. Okay, I know I probably shouldn't keep analyzing this, but I'm just really hoping to get off the alternate list so I can go teach English. So, again, with my example, if country X offers 15 grants, that means the maximum recommended number is 30 after the first round, regardless of how many people apply? Even if 100 people applied to country X, only 30 still get recommended? Then, some of those get rejected in the second round and a few remain alternates in case someone declines or more money becomes available?

Yes, that sounds about right! It's still early, you have a good chance to get off the alternate list i'd say. Maybe you should ask the country advisor if they have any information they can give you about it? You never know.

I don't think they give out information on alternates, although I wish they would. I don't see the harm in telling someone who needs to make plans for the summer what number they are on the list. I assume alternates also have to keep the time that the orientation is held in DC open.

This may just be a rumor, but I think I remember hearing that your schools on-campus Fulbright adviser may be able to find out your ranking as an alternate. It may depend on how close they are to the Fulbright office, but they might be able to request that info for you.

Hope that helps.

Cool another Mongolia person! Why don't you add your info to the spreadsheet? What would your project be on and stuff?

Full grant Mongolia finalist here too! I'm thinking we might hear something around middle of April by mail?! Exciting.

I applied at-large and I'm not enrolled in school anymore. Is there another way to find out?
