AblativeAbsolutely
Hello all! I am currently a junior in undergrad majoring in Classics. I would like to get into academic publishing in my field, and was wondering if there was any particular PhD or masters program which would be of the most help in achieving this goal? Thank you for your help!
Marcus_Aurelius
I'm no expert, but my impression is academic publishing is a really tough market these days, and having a PhD isn't the route it used to be... You're probably better served looking for internships, starting with this summer. But they're likely to be difficult to get and pay poorly, so ymmv... In any case, best of luck, and I love your handle!
ctbnj
I don't know where you are based, but I do know that many academic publishers offer internships. Off the top of my head, I recall Princeton, Oxford, and Cambridge offering internships (paid?) in the NYC area. I would think experience in academic publishing is probably more important than a PhD to obtain a job in academic publishing.
