E-mail and Mailing Lists

I find it really annoying that certain schools that I applied to and was accepted into (UWisconsin, UWashington, UT Austin) sold my e-mail address and mailing address to housing companies because I now get tons of junk mail. Has anyone else had something like this happen?

yep, I've been getting a few from places in Chapel Hill, but not too bad so far.

UT-Austin sends me stuff WEEKLY! and I declined over 2 months ago.

I'm not sure why, but suddenly I'm getting loads of junk mail, too. Could be the schools I was interested in and/or other education websites I signed up for....

Actually, if they are public universities, they probably just disclosed your email under Open Records rules, rather than actually selling it...

I declined NC State's admissions offer more than a year ago and still get mail both from them and area companies.
