Has anyone applied for the fulbright scholarship to study in the US? I am from India and am not sure what their selection criteria is ... anyone got any ideas about this

I cannot help you, but I suggest that you look up current students from your country that received fulbrights. They can often be an asset. Also, contact India's Fulbright office to get more information! Good luck!

Second that. Best to go to the people in charge of the program. Here is a link to CIES, who oversees most of the Fulbright programs (although for US students it's IIE): http://www.cies.org/

And I think there's a link for non US scholars. But just find a contact and email him/her. It never hurts to ask questions!
