So, since some schools have spring break this week, will this be a quiet week? I don't know if I can take 7 more days of silence... Just tell me I've been rejected, already!!!!

I know! I'm still waiting on four schools which are all on break. Some of these have sent out rejection letters already, which just seem to be getting to me very slowly, but others seem to waiting until next week at least. So frustrating!

Hello,

I noticed on the results page that a couple people have posted accepted into the MA Art History and/or Arts Admin program at School at the Art Institute of Chicago. At least one of those people posted that they received a financial aid award letter and assumed that it meant accepted. I too received an award letter from SAIC this weekend but does that really mean accepted? Can anyone shed light on this? I called their admissions office and they wouldn't say straight away on the phone, took my number and promised to call back....

Hi, I'm the person who got the funding letter but not an acceptance letter. I later found the acceptance letter - my downstairs neighbor (who is applying for law school) grabbed it with his mail accidentally. So I did actually get a letter of acceptance and a funding letter.

But I think it's safe to assume that if they're willing to give you money, you're in. I'd call the school to find out what's up.

I was the one who posted on the board for Tufts. I only got info over the phone, so a letter should be forthcoming. Hopefully you'll get good news soon! The director of graduate studies said they usually have about 10 people to a class. Do you know much about the department? It seems like it's not as well known but I think it's a pretty good fit for me.

I too am waiting on UW. I'm surprised the results board shows that someone was contacted on a Sunday??

At least in the Northeast (where I am from and did my undergrad), it seems like the Tufts program is on the radar! And you usually get that first job in the general region where you did you PhD (especially for programs that are not the big 8 or 9). New England has so many great liberal arts schools and small colleges. It seems like there would be a lot of good opportunities to get jobs!

Has anyone heard from Washington University in St. Louis or Notre Dame? Acceptances seem to have gone out a while ago for WUSTL, but I'm also wondering if anyone has heard about the masters there. I haven't seen anything from ND on the results page, so I'm just wondering if anyone's been in contact with them.

I was notified of my WUSTL waitlist status (PhD, not MA, so maybe not the info you're looking for) a few weeks ago. I remember when I applied to ND two years ago, I was emailed by the graduate adviser pretty early in the process - maybe late February but definitely by March. However, this year things seem to be happening much later than in previous years so maybe things haven't been decided yet.

Finally there is a Boston admit! (Not mine, unfortunately!)

Alas, not mine either! Hopefully the lucky individual will come and speak to us hopeful masses...

I applied to WashU, NYU-IFA, BU, Tufts, GWU, Georgetown and several others--on that list, I've gotten into all except WashU. Oh, well...perhaps BU will have news for us this week!

Anyone else still waiting to hear from Chicago or Harvard. I want to hurry and get those rejection letters so I can move on.

Congrats! We are school twins--I applies to UWash Seattle, NYU-IFA, BU, Tufts, GWU, Georgetown and several others--on that list, I've gotten into all except Tufts. Oh, well...perhaps BU will have news for us this week!

Awesome! Are you applying for a master's only? I didn't apply to any phd programs for now, though I might decide to later. I want to do museum work and it seems most people on gradcafe are on the academia track.

Congrats on all your acceptances! Which schools are you considering so far?

Even though I have been on Grad Cafe obsessively (no, really...is there a 12 step program?!?) since the day I sent my last application in December I have only posted on the results page. I had to tell you that I was at a prospective student weekend with three people who had all been at U Chicago's recruitment event. Imagine my weird combination of disappointment/resignation/relief when I heard from one of them, in the middle of the Art Institute of Chicago, "I'm sorry, but if you weren't invited to the prospective student weekend, you didn't get in. There is no waiting list." I find it odd that I haven't received my rejection letter yet, but it is nice to know that it is time to move on and accept one of my other offers. I wish you the best of luck in grad school. I am sure that you have other great offers. I hope you hear from Chicago and Harvard(!!!) soon.

Seriously. I hear you... I knew it was bad when my family members (mother, fiancé) started checking grad cafe and the results page because i was on it so much and, mostly, freaking out....

This is good to know, and I am now even more convinced that those of us (ME TOO) who haven't heard from Chicago yet are going to be offered "consolation" MAPHs in the next week or so, especially since this appears to have happened last year.

*raises hand* Yep, my partner obsessively checks it (despite making it through his entire app season last year without checking it once), and now both my parents are regularly checking - which was really nice when they emailed me this morning. "Someone posted an acceptance from BU! Have you heard?" *twitch*

See that would be odd in my situation. I already have an MFA in painting and an MS in art history. I'm currently teaching in college both studio and history but want to be able to move on in just teaching art history. So, the MAPH probably isn't a good fit for me. I'm feeling a bit of pain right now because I only applied to top programs because I figured it didn't make since to leave a position to go to anything other than a major school. It obviously didn't work out as I'm expecting my final too rejections for Chicago and Harvard. So, now I need to decide if I want to retool for next year, stay in my current field, or look at something like the IDSVA program or the Graduate Theological Union would be more open to my interest in the intersection of religion and contemporary art.

I just want to get the rejections so my mind can move on. :)

You should just email whatever prof you're in contact w/ at Harvard and ask. That's what I did! Even though the reply was disappointing I am DEF relieved to know and to be able to focus my thoughts on my alternatives, ya know?

I'm also planning on going into museum work (after doing that for two years and deciding it was a perfect fit but that I needed further education) and only applied to MAs this time. I do think I would like to pursue a PhD down the line. My fiance is graduating with an MA in public policy this May and DC would be a perfect fit for him--and I really do love the format of the Georgetown...but it being a newer program I am wondering if a standard 2 year program like NYU's holds more weight. What about you? Any word from BU yet? Congrats to you as well and good luck!

Abbie, you can edit your posts to add more information to them rather than double/triple posting.

On another note . . . all of BU is Ph.Ds ): Maaan. Oh well. ]:

Do you mean that all the results so far are phds, or that all the students they are accepting are phds? If it's the latter, that seems very odd to me.

Does anyone know anything about Michigan's decisions? I emailed the DGS but didn't get a response.

i havent received anything from michigan either...i didnt expect too much when i saw the posts on the results page about interviews in Feb and another post about being a shortlist.

it seems like they sent out notifications via email last year sometime during the 2nd week of march? i'm starting to think no news is bad news?

There was an error in the posting. Got the call late last month. Concentration is early modern.

Very, very excited.
