If I want to pursue PsyD in clinical psychology, can I apply for a clinical counseling program for my master's degree, or do I absolutely need to apply for M.A./M.S. in clinical psychology? PsyDuck90 Posted September 29, 2022 Share Posted September 29, 2022 You can practice clinically with a masters in counseling, so what is it specifically that you hope to accomplish with the PsyD? Alternatively, why apply for a masters at all if your goal is the doctorate? A masters can be good if you have a lower undergrad GPA and want to show that you are capable of doing grad level work.
