balderdash Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Monday, bloody Monday. Especially for whomever just posted the UVA rejection: 0-4, 3 on the same day. Ouch.
explodingstressball Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Especially for whomever just posted the UVA rejection: 0-4, 3 on the same day. Ouch. I got my first rejection this season on my birthday. Coincidentally, also on a Monday. Bloody Monday, indeed.
morningglory Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 what the hell is going on with all the uva? saw news on the results board and checked my online app to find NOTHING. this, along with northwestern, marks another instance where i'm just stuck in godforsaken limboland with no news, good OR bad. grrrrrrr.
Purled Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Ice is broken; in at UVA, no funding info, but very relieved and happy and kind of shaky. I'm sorry for those who got dinged. Some days you eat the bar, some days the bar eats you. Bring on April. Tufnel 1
Gradzero Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Illinois notified its admits the week before last To add on to this, I received an email informing me I was placed on the wait list this afternoon. Please feel free to PM me if you want more details.
mormegil Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Especially for whomever just posted the UVA rejection: 0-4, 3 on the same day. Ouch. That would be me.
Count de Monet Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 That would be me. Ouch, I know that there is not a whole lot we can say to cheer you up at the moment but try to keep the faith. Tomorrow will be better than today.

Tomorrow will be better than today. Thanks, Count. I'm saying to myself the rejections were all from my 'target' schools. It's kind of a payback as I was in a different UVA phd program that I ditched after 1 year for a Political Science MA. I was really hoping to get back to c-ville, though. Great town.
UVaSpades Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Got into UVA's program. Haven't gotten into anywhere the past two years (at least for a PhD), so this is a huge relief. Sorry to those who didn't get in, but there's plenty of other places left!
JPhoenix Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 There is one reject from Ohio State. I guess this means that they are done sending out acceptances.
gjason Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 To add on to this, I received an email informing me I was placed on the wait list this afternoon. Please feel free to PM me if you want more details. Did your status change on the Illinois website?
gjason Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Has anyone received a wait list or rejection from IUB?
informationbomb Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Looks like all Chicago acceptances are out - they're piling up on TGC. Anyone got in for theory?
JPhoenix Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Also, I have not heard anything on the University of Kentucky.
CreanhouseEffect Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Has anyone received a wait list or rejection from IUB? Nada from IUB over here. Stuck in the middle with you, gjason. And presumably dozens of others.
Gradzero Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Did your status change on the Illinois website? At the app.applyyourself.com website nothing changed. I'm not sure if there's a separate website though that shows status changes as well.

RWBG Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Hi! Anyone here claiming the Rochester admit? For what it's worth, the DGS isn't on the adcom, and the stipend indicated is a 4k increase in stipend from last year's, which was generous relative to Rochester's living costs to begin with. Coupled with the fact that it was Sunday evening, I think there are a couple of reasons to be skeptical of that posting, absent a claim here.
gjason Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Also, I have not heard anything on the University of Kentucky. I have two friends that applied to Kentucky and have not heard anything yet. One is a pretty strong candidate that I expect will get accepted there. If I hear any news, I will let you know.
Lost in transition Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Are international applicants and 'domestic' applicants --an airport classification- reviewed and offered acceptance at the same time? or are they subject to different procedures? why i haven't heard about anything from any schools i applied to? OTL Edited February 15, 2011 by civil war
Wishing and Hoping Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 (edited) Are international applicants and 'domestic' applicants --an airport classification- reviewed and offered acceptance at the same time? or are they subject to different procedures? why i haven't heard about anything from any schools i applied to? OTL I can say that as an American who has all international degrees (the UK), the application date for one of my schools was a month earlier than 'domestic' students. Unless you've had your degrees 'translated' (though something like World Education Service), I would imagine it might take longer. Have you seen results posted for the schools to which you've applied? Also, has anyone heard anything from NYU? If I haven't heard by tomorrow morning I think I'm going to call. The 15th is definitely "mid-February". Edited February 15, 2011 by Wishing and Hoping
Lost in transition Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 OSU and Notre Dame are still silent... ok. i would be a bit more patient. midwest Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Anyone have any details on one of MSU admits? What region does the comparative admit study? I am one of the MSU admits, not the comparative though, I'm American
