ash_g Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I picked up a few acceptances, I got waitlisted at a backup school. I have just a few more weeks in this semester then I will pick up a summer gig to just earn a bit more money for the move. It is a long trip from Michigan to El Paso. Congrats!! So you've decided on El Paso?
ash_g Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Ahhhh i'm still waiting to hear from UIC too..... which area did you apply to? Let's keep our fingers crossed!! Aarrggghh... Still no word from them! Social, focusing on stereotyping... And you? Yep! All the best!
Brandt Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Congrats!! So you've decided on El Paso? It looks likely. Still no word from the other two competitive schools. I will hold out as long as I can to see if they make an offer then I will just compare the offers. UTEP is a remarkable program, it would be difficult to beat. There is also the awesome food.
Social Psyc Researcher Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Aarrggghh... Still no word from them! Social, focusing on stereotyping... And you? Yep! All the best! I am guessing you may have heard from UIC by now ( I received a letter from them yesterday) but I know they already had interviews. Also, if you are interested in stereotyping I am guessing you may be interested in working with Mary Murphy -- who unfortunately is not taking any students this year.
Vitaminark Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Dude. Stanford. Just send me my rejection letter already. You've had since before Thanksgiving, srslykthxbai.
moralresearcher Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) Aarrggghh... Still no word from them! Social, focusing on stereotyping... And you? Yep! All the best! Did you interview? If not, I'm pretty sure it's bad news you're waiting on--from what I could tell during the visit, they were only taking students who interviewed. Also, if you are interested in stereotyping I am guessing you may be interested in working with Mary Murphy -- who unfortunately is not taking any students this year. And I do know for sure that Mary Murphy isn't taking students--she either has 2 1st years and a 2nd year or 2 2nd years and a 1st year and so will be waiting a year or two before adding anyone. Mr. Tea Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Dude. Stanford. Just send me my rejection letter already. You've had since before Thanksgiving, srslykthxbai. Seriously
Benzene Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I haven't heard a thing from UCSB. When I emailed a few weeks ago, they just told me to wait, basically. Anyone else in the same boat? I am 99% sure it's a rejection, I just wish they'd send it already.
Seethreepeeoh Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Ditto. I called on Wednesday -- the coordinator said that everything is very faculty specific at this point, and a faculty member had even asked her to assemble an admit file for another new student the day before. She essentially said that if you haven't been notified yet of anything, you are on someone's waitlist, and since all the faculty are moving at individual paces, it's just a matter of waiting for them to select through their own processes... That was about as much insight as I got. This whole application ordeal has instilled in me the value of deadlines for academics. Let us be thankful for April 15th. Without it, they would be happy to wait as soon as the night before the next semester before notifying us of decisions. Blargh. I guess it's a little fair, I only submitted the night before most deadlines as well! I haven't heard a thing from UCSB. When I emailed a few weeks ago, they just told me to wait, basically. Anyone else in the same boat? I am 99% sure it's a rejection, I just wish they'd send it already.

Seethreepeeoh Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Did anyone apply to Carnegie Mellon or hear any news on the decision front? They're my last notification, aside from UCSB. I left voicemails and emailed the grad admissions folks about 4 times in the last week without so much as a generic "keep waiting." It's like they're daring me to keep hounding. ...You're on, CMU. a.arcane 1

Scratch that. Received my rejection. Eerily, about five minutes after signing my contract elsewhere. It's like they're watching... Positive vibes to all...!
Brandt Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Though I have two schools left I am tired of the grind. I have a great offer sitting here and I want to have this done. Wednesday is the decision day.
Vitaminark Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Stanford finally sent out my rejection e-mail today. That was my last school to hear from. Now I can focus on getting through my last quarter of undergrad in peace. Im frustrated with them. I just called to inquire if they were still sending out notifications and if they'd be by email or letter. Know what they said to me? "I cant answer that and we will be sending a letter or email." I said that I had moved so I want to inquire if they had sent it and maybe to the wrong address. They said "well if it gets sent back then we will resend." Gee thanks Stanford.
Vitaminark Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Rude! What is the deal with the cryptic vagueness? That's a completely unsatisfying response! But then again, maybe not having received a rejection email from them yet is a good sign! I'm still holding out hope for you Vitaminark! Mysteriously got my rejection email when I hung up the phone! Lol!! But then an hour later I received an acceptance to San Francisco State so Im happy now! teresajeans 1

But then an hour later I received an acceptance to San Francisco State so Im happy now! Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you! Is this finally the end of the waiting for you? I think it finally hit me today after I heard back about the NSF GRFP decision: application season is over for me! I hope I will start to get back into a better sleeping and eating pattern now. LOL! I finally finished my senior thesis after hearing the news. I guess final closure was all I needed to be productive again!
Brandt Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 So the decision is made. I have accepted the offer from UTEP. Good program. Next step, figure out what I am going to do with myself over the summer.
franks98 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 So the decision is made. I have accepted the offer from UTEP. Good program. Next step, figure out what I am going to do with myself over the summer. Who is your POI at UTEP? I imagine we'll be in the same cohort. I haven't officially accepted yet as I think there is going to be an offer from University of Kansas coming through real soon, but even with that, I think I may still choose UTEP as I was really impressed with their program. Decisions decisions...
sleppyb Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) Got the rejection from NYU about a week ago. Got an offer from UVA a couple days ago and just accepted today! Phew, good luck to everyone! Edited April 8, 2011 by sleppyb

PsychAnxious Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 After this long period of waiting - i finally got TWO admission offers. Purdue University and University of Rochester. I am so happy that I have these incredible choices... But, I don't know how to choose. Do you have any advice for me? Tnx guys!!!!
brilartist Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Nevermind, KU didn't pan out, so to UTEP it is... officially now! franks98, If you don't mind, were you on the KU wait list? Did they contact you recently with no offer? Thanks for the info, and congrats on UTEP!! franks98 1
franks98 Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 franks98, If you don't mind, were you on the KU wait list? Did they contact you recently with no offer? Thanks for the info, and congrats on UTEP!! Thanks! Yeah, I was on the wait-list at KU. They had contacted me just this week asking if I still wanted to be considered and that a spot may be opening up for me. Then two days later I was notified that the funding wasn't there and that they had finalized their decisions (the program director was super nice about it). Unless another professor is still looking to choose off the wait-list, it looks like KU is done with this season. I was told that formal letters will be sent soon. Best o' luck!

Decisions decisions... Those kind of decisions are not too bad to have. Regarding POI, that is a little unclear at the moment because of faculty committments outside of the university. C'est la vie. Everything is working out well.
