lewin
May I ask what your program is? I applied to Toronto, although I haven't heard anything from them so I'm basically expecting another rejection at this point. Still, any information would be better than none if you go there or happen to know what their status is. Not Toronto, sorry Did you apply to others? If yes, I'd be happy to discuss more over PM. Thanks for the reassurance. It's hard to keep up with the erratic time frames. A school in Toronto let me know early, so I thought maybe U Alberta was on the same schedule. Oh, well. I guess we'll see what my POI says. A thought just occurred to me -- when she said "into April" she might have been referring to second-round admissions. As far as I know, all Canadian psych departments follow the "make first-round offers by April 1" rule. So even if you don't get something by April 1, they could do more admissions off the wait list. fd.711
Not Toronto, sorry Did you apply to others? If yes, I'd be happy to discuss more over PM. No other schools in Canada. I applied to a baker's dozen programs, but all of them except Toronto are in the US. That said, should I consider lack of any contact from a Canadian school a bad sign, good sign, or non-sign at this point? It seems from what I'm reading here that they're a little behind the US schools in the process, so maybe I'm not out of the running yet. Though I don't have my hopes up. I went back into my folder of grad school applications to take a look. My rejection letter from Toronto was dated April 19. (In retrospect, it wasn't a good fit; the person I wanted to work with left for Washington University in St. Louis that year.) The "accept" letters are all dated between February 15 and March 15, but I know I heard by phone a week or two before the official letter arrived. So, optimistically, you may still be in the running but if you're not it may be April before you hear definitely.
vindicated
Hi guys - once again! I noticed that some people got response from Buffalo via post-mail. Maybe someone knows if the decisions were available on website as well? Thanks!!! I got a rejection in the mail, but it doesn't say anything on the website. great
Hi. I received a rejection letter from the University of Alberta a couple of days ago, so you are most likely a finalist. Yesterday, I wrote to the program coordinator at the University of Alberta to ask for an update (I haven't heard anything from this program or anyone else who applied). She told me the committee is still in the examination stage. She also indicated that the program processes applications well into April. Is it just me, or is that really, really late? I immediately contacted my POI, and I'm still waiting to hear from him. Just wondering what my fellow applicants think. Thanks!

a.arcane
Was anyone else at the UCI weekend? I thought that they had said we would hear something today. I have heard nothing. Worry. Worry. Worry.
cerebellumsdayoff
Just got my reject from ASU...expected, as I didn't interview, but still a bummer. I got one last night too. I loved the title of the email: "ASU deny letter." It made my night!
socialpsych
Was anyone else at the UCI weekend? I thought that they had said we would hear something today. I have heard nothing. Worry. Worry. Worry. I don't have any UCI-specific information, but don't worry about not hearing on the day they told you that you would hear. It's totally par for the course for a program not to be able to get back to you by the deadline, and it doesn't mean anything bad (unless, indeed, others have already gotten good news). Vitaminark
whats the deal with U of Washington - Seattle? there are a lot of rejections on the results page.. anyone interview, get an offer, waitlist etc..? Both me and my friend got rejected from UW, except we were both differently processed. While I did not receive any kind of interview, she did have a phone interview way back in January, but was unofficially told by her POI that she did not make the cut right before SPSP. Apparently, they had narrowed it down to 5 from their interview pool out of 150+ from social psych applicants way back in January. Not sure if this helps you, but hopefully you are one of those top 5!!!

Benzene
Ha they're sure taking their time, aren't they? At least, compared to last year. I'm curious to see if anyone knows anything too.
Vitaminark
has anyone heard anything from UCSB? UCSB had their recruitment weekend this weekend (I think it was for the whole Psych Dept, but I'm not 100%. I do know that my friend was there for Cognitive this weekend). We'll likely hear from this week, from what it seems. They've been having huge problems with funding, so they're only accepting like 1-3 students into Social Psych from what I've heard. baypsych
This might be nagging, but I'm kinda desperate... If anybody has received an acceptance from a school they know they don't want to go to please let that school know. I'm currently waitlisted at a school which is the only school I think I'll get in to and I'm sure not everybody who got accepted in front of me will attend, but if you don't let schools know soon enough they can't offer more acceptances. Everybody knows this is a super tough time for everyone so do some people a favor! Thanks guys!

But I highly doubt that students who've been accepted are not submitting their decisions just because they're lazy or careless. If a student has offers from two or more schools, making the right decision is paramount to almost their entire future! I don't think they will just say no or yes to a school solely based on the fact that they feel like they're being "rude" to someone else who is waitlisted. I have not been accepted from any school (yet) but I just thought I would voice my opinion on this one. It's one thing to ask them to put themselves in your shoes. It's another for you not to do the same for them. Good luck! moralresearcher

The point is that once a decision is made, it is easy to feel a strong sense of urgency about responding to the school you want to attend and less of a sense of urgency about responding to the schools that you do not want to attend. Benzene
has anyone heard anything from UCSB? I saw in the Results someone got an admittance. I'm going to shoot the department an email if I haven't heard anything by Friday, as well as my other 3 remaining schools. I'd like to just get it all over with, so I can move on...err, and likely, into prep for applying again for next year.
