London-Tokyo Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Um, not exactly sure...But, is placing a clothing rack near the heater/vent (no threat of fire...it's just hot/warm air), permanently a bad thing for the clothes? Or, does it not really matter? I just realized my building really stepped up the heat for winter...and I mean, my closets are full of clothes...So, I have a separate rack next to my bed and heater... I don't think that the air next to that heater is hot enough to damage your clothes. But may be you should not put clothes made or wool and silk on the rack next to the heater? Don't know why, just an idea

But may be you should not put clothes made or wool and silk on the rack next to the heater? Don't know why, just an idea Grr...Don't really have another place to put my clothes rack--- But yea, I guess I'll ask for a few more opinions...I mean it's not like I'm putting them next to a furnace... But the heater is pretty strong, feels good I've left it like that for a month now, and just realized it since the heat got stronger...
eklavya Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 if the clothes are far enough to not catch fire and/or melt from the heat, i'd continue to put the clothes near the heater. mainly because when i wake up, warm clothes are waiting to greet me, and protect me from this frigid cold!!
MoJingly Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I don't know. I never seem to follow any sort of directions for clothes care, and everything always turns out great. I'd probably put something in front of that heater and not even think about it.
London-Tokyo Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 It seems like the people have spoken, and I'll just continue to put my clothes rack near the heater... I mean, I can't really find any advice against it...and there's no risk of fire-hazard...just warm clothes... But yea, if anyone thinks it might affect the clothes, let me know...I don't really want to ruin my exp. clothes....
