Hi,

I am an international student (from Singapore) intending to pursue PhD in USA...

I am currently in my second year from a undergraduate course in pure Mathematics.

When should I start preparing for the Math GRE?

Thanks for any tips!

The sooner the better. I recommend to start preparing for GRE (general or subject) six months before the test. One hour a day every day of studying does wonders.

Thanks a lot!

Based on your experience, is the Math GRE syllabus likely to change by year 2013?

Agreed! As early as you can think of. Some of the content in the GRE subject is third year level material, so that needs some serious studying.

I started the night before because I knew it didn't really matter for the programs I was applying for :)

Why prepare for it?

I think everyone should take it, and just let the test reflect their knowledge. Gaming the system reduces its effectiveness.

Depending on what you're planning to study preparing might be a waste of time. I started preparing the night before I took it and got plenty high enough for what I'm studying.

I agree, and I also think people shouldn't prepare for job interviews either.

It would make life a lot easier for me :)
