JungAtHeartt Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 (edited) Hey guys! I am new to the forum and have just applied to the MEd counselling psychology programs at uOttawa and OISE, as-well as the MRFT and Master's of Psychotherapy program at GuelphU for 2025 start! Was hoping to create a space where other applicants could keep in touch/ ask questions Edited October 13, 2024 by JungAtHeartt Lily123 1
Lily123 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Hi, I have also applied to this program. I know interviews are at the end of the month but I have yet to hear anything. Have you had any updates?

oliviao Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Congrats on the interview! I just to counselling MEd at uottawa, didn't know they did interviews. Is that a normal thing? I also applied to the non-thesis stream. Would that have anything to do with interviews?
damaglnc Posted January 15 Posted January 15 (edited) hey all, I've applied to the following programs: UAlberta, MEd Counselling Psychology (Course-based) — Dec 1, 2024 UAlberta, MEd Counselling Psychology (Thesis-based) — Dec 1, 2024 UCalgary, MSc Counselling Psychology — Nov 1, 2024 ULethbridge, MEd Counselling Psychology — Dec 1, 2024 McMaster, MSc Psychotherapy — Nov 14, 2024 I got an email back from McMaster two days ago requesting me to film/submit a 6-min video response to a couple questions (due Jan 16). if I advance in the process, the next step will be a live video interview, which will take place between the weeks of Jan 29-Feb 11. unfortunately, McMaster is my last choice since i'd rather not relocate cross-country (again) if possible ... but I hear it's an extremely competitive program and at this point I'm still just focused on getting at least one offer anywhere, haha. this thread seems pretty dead, but I'll keep updating as things go. the application process has been so stressful so far, I'd love to chat with anyone waiting to hear back from any of these programs. damaglnc Posted January 17 Posted January 17 just got an interview offer from ULethbridge — not a live one, more like an assignment/timed video response. due date is January 30th. Curiousgeorgge and 5-ht2a-receptor 2
beebz Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Got an interview from McMaster, completed the video interview. So curious how many other people did as well. Curiousgeorgge, 5-ht2a-receptor and damaglnc 3
5-ht2a-receptor Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) Hi all, I applied to Counselling Psychology programs this year at the University of Alberta (both course-based and thesis-based streams), as well as the University of Lethbridge. Last week, I received regrets from the University of Lethbridge and am waiting to hear from the University of Alberta. I am applying after finishing my undergraduate degree in 2021 and very eager to return to school and begin a counselling career. Fingers crossed for us all! Hope you are taking care while waiting for a response (and congratulations to those who have received interview invites). Edited January 22 by 5-ht2a-receptor
damaglnc Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Just got an invite for the real-deal (i.e. live, virtual) interview with McMaster! 5-ht2a-receptor 1
Nibnab Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Has anyone heard from the MSc Educational Psychology program at U of C (Counselling specialization)? damaglnc 1

damaglnc Posted January 31 Posted January 31 FYI, after completing my asynchronous interview for ULethbridge there was an “outro” video saying that they sent interview offers to the top 20% of applicants, and from there, the top ~10% of applicants will be accepted (cohort size of about 20). just thought that was good to know.
5-ht2a-receptor Posted February 1 Posted February 1 For those applying to UofA, I came to know that that this year there will be 15-18 successful candidates (~5-6 thesis students) as opposed to the ~10 there have been historically. Last year, there were over 200 applications and I believe it is about the same this year... Best of luck to those waiting! ❤️ damaglnc 1
rosief Posted Monday at 09:00 PM Posted Monday at 09:00 PM Anyone that applied to UOttawa hear anything yet? Especially for the thesis stream and if you were able to secure supervision. I think it's still a little early, but I'm getting antsy.

I haven't heard anything either I know uOttawa tends to send their acceptance and waitlist at the same time and if I recall, my friend was waitlisted last year mid/late Feb? So I assume it will be similar this year
