Everyone across branches and fields who received a March update got the 3/18 update, indicating its significance. The 3/13 and 3/19 updates remain unclear, with only one person receiving 3/13 and two receiving 3/19. Notably, no one in fields including Chemistry or CS across branches has received a March update yet, which is unexpected. Last year, all March updates happened on four specific days, with decisions following the day after the fourth update. So far this year, three March updates have occurred. I previously suspected that each update corresponds to an action by a military research branch, followed by a fourth consensus action (3 + 1), but now I am unsure. More March updates is not necessarily better; last year, the person who received three updates was waitlisted. However, receiving at least one March update seems necessary. Last year, everyone selected or waitlisted received at least two March updates, always including the final one on 3/21. Based on this pattern, I expect one more March update opportunity before final decisions.

I think you're right. If there is an update today, I bet we get the results tomorrow. If not, I bet we get the update early next week and the results either Wednesday (03/26) or Friday (03/28).

Hoping for Wednesday. I am tired of waiting 😭 maybe someone should volunteer as tribute and call the NDSEG office and ask. I emailed last week and they said “Late March - Early April” but maybe we could get an actual date with a phone call

I think a lot more people could have gotten the 3/13 update but weren't checking until after 3/18

I checked regularly and did not receive an update on 03/13 but did receive one on 03/18 - chemical engineering ARO

Same, I haven't been checking regularly until recently. Mechanical Engineering for AFRL and ARO; only noticed I got the 1/31 and 3/18 updates.

EE here, got updates 1/28 + 3/18 (no 3/13). Does anyone else find it odd that so many people are reporting March updates compared to previous years?

Yeah I have been thinking this was strange, could be selection bias though. 150-200 people get awards every year and 20 people have posted that they got March updates. If we assume everyone who gets march updates gets selected that is 10 - 13% of the awards going to people posting here. This is assuming everyone who gets a March update gets selected.
