Mirah24 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Hi Everyone, I decided to start this thread so that we can all answer any questions we have regarding the application/admission process for the MHI/eHealth program for Fall 2025. I applied to all 3 schools - UofT, Uwaterloo and McMaster 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽. I submitted all my applications officially 2 weeks ago; well I submitted it in December 2024 but my second reference submitted her letter of recommendation 2 weeks ago. My background is in nursing. I was hoping that you guys could tell us about your background and when you submitted your application, and if/when you received an interview date or offer letter. I’m so nervous because of the wait lol.
wheelson Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Hi! I submitted my UofT MHI application on November 18, 2024 and received my interview invite last night (interview on Feb 7). My references were finalized on Jan 2. My background is in Public Health. I'm currently wrapping up the last term of my undergrad at UW, and I've also applied to UW for MHI alongside MPH back in November 2024. From what I hear, UW will make decisions later than UofT, which had a much earlier deadline and send out offers on a rolling basis.

Your background is very solid. Did you get an email for the interview invite? I keep checking the sgs.admission website for UofT but there’s no place indicating the status of my application. McMaster’s shows “under review” but UofT doesn’t show anything.

The email regarding the interview came from ihpme.grad.assist at utoronto.ca. In a previous email to the faculty I asked about how we would be notified of status changes and Christina, the student admissions and placement coordinator, let me know what updates came from ihpme rather than the SGS portal.
peppayu Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Both of my application statuses in uoft and McMaster are the same as yours.🥺 btw, I submitted my application on Dec 18th.

May I kindly ask how long did it take for you to receive a reply after emailing ihpme.addimissions at utoronto.ca (Christina). Cuz I also emailed twice, but I did not receive any response. Thank you in advance. Edited February 7 by peppayu

wheelson Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Hi everyone! Just wanted to give an update on my interview. There were two faculty members present (as the invitation email noted) who made brief introductions and asked me to jump right in to the 5-minute project presentation (I was asked to share my screen). They are strict on the 5-min maximum and one of them reminds you when you are down to the last minute to wrap things up. After you finish, they'll ask you questions that come from the guide they sent with inviation. They didn't ask all of the ones listed there, but be prepared for any selection of them. I think I was asked 3 or 4 of them. With 1 minute left, they asked if I had any questions for them. Whether you are asked this depends how close you get to the end of the interview slot, as someone on the reddit thread this year who had their presentation on the same day mentioned that they were told to email if they had questions. Overall, it went as expected, but its hard to determine whether I did well. The interviewers seemed to be engaged with the presentation and topic but that may not be a strong indicator of anything.

Oh Wow, thanks for the update and sharing. Must have been very intense for you, but you sound like you did great. Did you have to go into UofT for the interview or was it virtual? Did they ask you behavioural questions during the interview? And did they tell you when to expect their response?

The interview was held virtually on Zoom. There were behavioural questions asked, but they were related to the project. The one I was asked was "What type of role would you play in your project?", which was one of the questions included in the guide. They didn't say when to expect their response and I didn't feel it was appropriate to ask about it at the end since the entire interview was focused on the project rather than the application.

Nope, I'd say it doesn't follow an "interview" structure at all. The participants each gave a brief introduction in the beginning, then one of them briefly lays out the structure of the interview which is 5 minutes for your project proposal, and the remaining time (15 minutes) for questions about the project and your people skills (linked to the project). In a sense its structured almost like a thesis defense. I would assume that its done this way since they would have gotten all they wanted to know about you as a person from your CV and letter of intent and would like to know more about how you think.

Thanks so much! That makes me feel a lot better going into the interview. One more question, sorry for so many - How early did you submit your presentation the day before the interview? Can I make tweaks to it the night before, or should I submit it 24 hours prior? Thanks!

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I submitted my presentation the day before my interview (interview was at 11am and I submitted it in the afternoon the day before). You will be sharing your screen during the interview but I assume you should aim to have the changes finalized before the day your interview is.
ladidadidaaa Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Hello! Does anyone know the acceptance process for University of Waterloo Health Informatics? Is there an interview? And do you know when the interviews are held?

They evaluate your application and send offers if you are qualified. ladidadidaaa 1
