Plenty of alum have applied to multiple groups. In the end it's about fit. I applied to one because it was my best fit. If you think you had a good fit for 3 — relax you'll be fine. I'm baffled though how they intend to filter applicants, interview them, and decide how to accept all in a space of less than a month for thousands of applicants? I would imagine it isn't possible unless you're brutally filtering everyone.

Is there any way around it for students? it doesn't apply to students I think but I'm not taking out loans if im not confident about paying them back and earning more eventually which is only possible if I remain there after my studies. Because PI don’t have the time to interview hundreds of applicants 😕

It's too risky for someone with kids it's really unfair that you have to think of that in addition to all of the already complicated application stuff. MIT has an International Student Office, maybe they could have valuable information? Maybe there are grants that would allow you to take a smaller loan than expected, in addition to the stipend that the Media Lab offer? I had two visits from Cambridge lasting about 10 minutes in late december/early january and nothing since, I think not hearing anything at this point is still pretty normal!

There’s still hope until the 26th (it’s too precise for nothing really) but maybe I’m delusional…

On their website, I can only see things about the 25th of February and if we take into account the previous years they don't seem to completely follow the deadlines 😅 In any case it would be disappointing to get no news but it seems pretty common to apply multiple times before getting in!

Jan 26th was just a personal deadline nothing official. I just thought that since admission decision starts Feb 25th, for them to do the interviews and decide they would need at least a month but again it’s nothing official. Btw do you guys work? Graduate? Undergrad? Do cool stuff? I wanted to know what kind of profiles applied to the media lab 😅

wildlizzard Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I was browsing some of the groups I applied to on social media to see if any updates may have been posted, and I noticed that the CM instagram has been deleted/temporarily deactivated for the past few days (they had quite a few posts and stories and a few thousand followers before). Could be totally unrelated or a glitch, but does anyone know why something like this might happen? It seems out of the ordinary to deactivate/delete a lab account.
