I know people with early last names alphabetically and they would have told me if they got an email, guess we just have to keep waiting

So I wouldn't hold my breath (but hopefully they come soon).

No, they clarified they were talking about having contacted a previous recipient, and that the recipient found out on April 24th of a previous year

Should I email them for clarification? If this is NSERC, the application portal (ebiz(dot)nserc(dot)ca) does not update, even after institutional review. It is Extranet that will have your results (influence2(dot)nserc-crsng(dot)gc(dot)ca).

It went as approved for very brief time after institution submits your application to NSERC and NSERC receives it for review and it turns "received" trixielllyyy 1
