I was wondering who else gets annoyed at snail mail notifications. I have only gotten one so far, a Harvard rejection, but, regardless of the result, I was throughly annoyed by it. Before I even opened it I thought, "You're Harvard freaking University but you're not tech savvy enough to send an e-mail?" I guess this reaction shows my age and a formal letter is a bit classier but it still urked me.

I got a rejection letter from U Michigan, which made the rejection hurt more than the email/website rejections I've gotten. It felt like they put more effort into rejecting me. On the other hand, it did give me an opportunity to burn the letter, throw the remains into a river, and drink whiskey, which is quite cathartic.

That... is a really good idea! I know what I'm doing tonight.

I'm hoping for no snail mail notifications, because I had to list my parents address as my mailing address. I might move from my current apartment to another one, and I don't want my mail lost in transit. Right now, I live an hour away from them by train. If i get a call from my mom saying that something arrived in the mail from one of the schools, I won't be able to have her read it out loud to me over the phone. (If it's a rejection, reasons are obvious. If it's an acceptance, I deserve the see the words on the page, with the school letterhead on top.) I'll have to get on the train, sit in sweat and suspense for an hour, and then, upon ripping the envelope open, I may find out that I got rejected from my top school. And then I'll have to board the train back because I have to go to my job in the morning. Nuts.

No snail mail, please.

I hate snail mail, because I live with my parents right now and I have to come home to a series of sad looks (I've gotten two mail rejections so far)

I hate the snail mail because it takes so long, especially because I live in Canada. I received the rejection about two weeks after it was sent. And to think, the last week before I received it, i was going absolutely insane. Once I received it, it wasn't so bad. And to think, if only I had received it a week or two earlier, I could have saved myself the insanity.

On the other hand, I have all my mail sent to my family's place and my sister-in-law read it over the phone for me while I was at dinner with my boyfriend's family. It may be strange but this was actually for the best. Had I read it myself I would have cried and felt sorry for myself. Instead though, I had to maintain my composure long enough that by the time I could have cried, I had actually gotten over it.
