Just out of morbid curiosity, is there anyone else out there who has not heard from any of their schools AT ALL??? Even a rejection would be better than this white-knuckled anticipation.

Like you, I'm still waiting on Cornell. Based on the results page, I feel like we should have at least beeen rejected by now. Frustrating.

Yep, still waiting on all three of mine. Based on previous experience and the results page, I'm expecting rejections from Yale and Columbia, though I still have a fraction of hope for BU.

To amleta:

In regards to BU, this is a response from another member to an earlier post from me:

"I noticed that you applied to BU. I just contacted my POI, and he emailed the admissions committee to inquire. Apparently, they are just finishing reviewing apps and are now making decisions. I hoped he would have told me if I was in the 'rejection' pile, because I indicated that I was feeling a bit of pressure from other programs to make a decision."

I hope that gives you an idea.

To the Cornell people: you're probably on the waitlist. Have you tried calling? I know for a fact they've already sent out acceptances. I was in a similar position as you guys w/ Duke; it seemed like a lot of ppl had heard and so I just contacted them, and found out I was on the waitlist. Hope this helps.

I'm hearing a whole lot of silence at this point as well.

I've received two rejections so far but I'm still waiting on five, all of which have sent out at least some acceptances. At this point I've let pretty much everyone in my life know that this year probably isn't it for me. Even the school I was flown out to interview with gave me the standard "letters will be out by mid-march" comment when I emailed, although I know they sent out acceptances already.

Who knows though? Maybe no news is good news. Good luck!

I too applied to Cornell and Emory and haven't heard a word from them. I don't have my hopes up for Emory but I'm desperately waiting on Cornell. I emailed them to ask about my status but didn't hear back, either. Should I give them a call? According to the board, it doesn't seem like they sent out rejections yet, either... oh, how I hate being in the limbo.

May I ask what your area of specialization is? Myself, I am concentrating on the Orientalizing Period and Early Archaic. I am hoping to work with Dr. Alexandridis.

Just an FYI on Emory: they already had their finalist weekend in early February and have given out acceptances to those who were there and who made the first cut. The wait-list, from what I understand, is made up of those who were invited to the finalist weekend but who were not accepted in the first round. I don't know if they have anyone on the wait-list who was not part of that finalist group back in February. I don't know why they haven't sent out rejections to those they are certain will be rejected, but I had applied unsuccessfully to Emory before and did not get my rejection until pretty late in the game. In regards to the finalist weekend, I was one of those in attendance and have since been informed that I am on the wait-list after that first round of acceptances (I had to inquire as to my status after that weekend and was not notified of my status until I made the inquiry). I think they only had four spots this year, as they only give offers to those for whom they have funding.

Of course, don't lose hope and take this info with a grain of salt. I had not heard from some programs and had assumed I had been rejected because of the fact that I had not been invited to interview weekends and such, but then received offers anyway. I just had the info and thought you might like it shared. I sincerely wish you the best with either program.

Thank you for this post. I had pretty much written Emory off, knowing that they only admit those they fund and - after seeing the results page - had apparently filled their quota. I sent an email to my POI introucing myself and the topic I was proposing to research and received nothing. C'est la vie.

I am concentrating on contemporary art. My research topic includes postcolonialism & new media theory, and it seemed to overlap with a number of members @ Cornell. Here's hope for both of us to hear good news!

Thanks for sharing this info. I too have crossed Emory off my mind. The professor I wanted to work with is on leave. Anyhow, I hope you get in with funding! Fingers crossed for you! ;)

Congrats to those who survived UPenn's slaughter tonight. I thought the school was a great fit so I'm a little bummed that I didn't survive it.

Also, they have the WORST rejection letter I have ever laid eyes on (and I've seen lots of 'em).

I agree.

These rejection letters are motivating me to do my damned best, so they'd be like: "Man! We should have accepted her!" And I'll be like: "Pfth! Your loss, this school's gain!"

I was also an unfortunate Penn victim. I, too, thought it a good fit and was really hoping to work with Ann Kuttner.

I bet they received a ridiculous amount of applications this year.

Just in case anyone is still waiting on UMCP, I emailed the dept. secretary and she told me my file was "still pending" and that I would know by April 1st. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! What does that mean..."still pending?"

Doesn't that mean you're on waitlist? UMCP rejected me long long time ago (I think around the beginning of Feb.) and I would take it as a good sign if your apps is actually "pending" although they could have clarified it for you :(

Maybe press for more clarification? I was rejected last week, if that helps.
