Guest CR Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Just got an acceptance to MIT today. Very very excited. Got an invite to the open house at Boston University last week, though it didn't officially say accepted anywhere it did say they were preparing an aid package. Looks like two trips to Boston in March.
Guest bgk Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Congrats! Which other schools are you waiting to hear from?
Guest CR Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Caltech, Berkeley, Stanford, Yale, Northwestern and WUSTL. All EE except for Berkeley, which is for the Applied Science and Technology Program.
Guest NAD Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 I'm also waiting for MIT/Stanford/WUSTLÂ EE How did you get the MIT notification? And what areas of interest did you mention in your app.? ?
Guest nomad Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Yup, I am waiting on MIT CS... was it e-mail or snail mail by which they notified you.... I am going crazy waiting, I won't be too crushed if I am rejected, but I just want to KNOW! I am also waiting on CMU and Princeton... anyone heard back from those schools yet?
Guest CR Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 My response came via email at 10:00 at night, and also said that I'll be getting a letter as well. I'm interested in devices and materials (area V I think) and bioelectrical (VII).
Guest Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 Thanks CR! I'm more into areas I and II (communications, networking, algorithms) Perhaps they have different admission commitees for the different areas, or different decision dates? Does anyone know?

Guest nomad Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 nope, same dates and committees, they just usually have ~ 2500 applicants so it takes them a little while to get back to everyone.
Guest NAD Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 So what you'r saying is that our MIT fates are already sealed, we just don't know them yet...
Guest Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 indeed.... quite an overwhelming thought... isn't it !
Guest nomad Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 received official notification today by e-mail that I was admitted to the CS PhD program at the University of Maryland. I was also offered a partial fellowship in addition to an assitantship... good times... now if only MIT chooses to be half as nice to me I will be on cloud 9 !
Guest Guest Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Am jittery about MIT EECS too. Got admit at Berkeley CS on 10th Feb 2006. Am also waiting for Caltech and Harvard DEAS!!!
Guest aspirational Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 So is it true that MIT EECS is sending decision via snail mail :?
Guest bgk Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 CR ... was your admission notification from a professor or admin?
Guest CR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I received an email from the open house coordinator. I was hoping to get something in the mail actually. Feels so much more 'official'.
Guest Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I received an email from the open house coordinator. I was hoping to get something in the mail actually. Feels so much more 'official'. Hmm open house co-ordinator told you about BU? But what about MIT ?
Guest CR Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 I was contact by the open house coordinator at MIT, and the Academic Program Administrator at BU, both via email.
Guest AspirEEng Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Hi CR, when is the MIT open house, and are you a US resident or an international applicant? Trying to crack the MIT email notification logic, perhaps If the MIT open house is relatively soon, it seems logical that they would notify accepted ppl ASAP so they can make travel arrangements... My hunch is that if one is an international applicant and he received no contact from them yet (I also belong to this category..) then the answer is probably a negative one... Damn, this whole waiting thing made me totally lose my mind, eh?
Guest aspirational Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Just check out the updated RAW survey... Damn almost everyone rejected at Berkeley... Just see 1 interview... rest all rejects... one of em is me... :?
Guest AspirEEng Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I'm with you... Also rejected from Berkeley... (and we have a similar name) The raw list also showed that CMU CS started sending out acceptances. I applied for their CALD program.... Come on CMU, show me the good stuff!!
Guest CR Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 The open house is at the beginning of March, and I'm an international applicant.
Guest bgk Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 CR are you currently an undergrad in the USA ?
