Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I'm wating to hear from Caltech, RPI, and Rutgers... has anyone heard from any of those three? Gah! I need to know! I know that Rutgers hasnt started evaluating yet... so that will take time... I had seen a coupla RPI admits long back in some forum
Guest Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I called MIT EECS this morning, and they said they have not made a decision on me yet... I don't know if this means I have made some kind of initial cuts and am in the "not a definite admit, but not a definite reject" pile, or if they have just not looked at my app yet.... I am soooooo tired of waiting. Any input?
Guest mishum2000 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 CR congratz for your admission at MIT. Can you please share us your profile ? Just got an acceptance to MIT today. Very very excited. Got an invite to the open house at Boston University last week, though it didn't officially say accepted anywhere it did say they were preparing an aid package. Looks like two trips to Boston in March.

g_dxy Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Has anyone heard anything back from EE phd program in Stanford? If you have or you're also applying please share any info you got from stanford here. Thanks.
waqasm Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 hi guys Im new on the forum, but its an invaluable resource. Im an international student and Hmm Im still awaiting MIT decision.. But am not too bothered as iv been accepted at my first choice (which answers ^ your question) Heard from Stanford on the 14th regularly till 23rd of Feb Via 5 x Emails and a phone call from admissions comittee (talk about aggressive recruitment). oh yea I had applied for EE PhD
g_dxy Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 >Heard from Stanford on the 14th regularly till 23rd of Feb Via 5 x Emails and a >phone call from admissions comittee (talk about aggressive recruitment). oh >yea I had applied for EE PhD Hi waqasm, Are you saying you got admitted by Stanford? Please share more infor with us. Thanks
waqasm Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 aaa yes i was offered a place and was nominated by the EE department for the stanford graduate fellowship.. awaiting the decision for that. Otherwise i was guranteed departmental financial assistance. Area of research, free space optical comms.
g_dxy Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 waqasm, Thanks! Can you share your profile with us? I'm geting very nervous since it's almost March... Have you heard anyone else getting admitted? Do you know if I don't hear it by now that means it's a bad sign? Is there any extra info ? Please share with us. I heard some rumor that stanford only gives master option when giving out admissions, but it certainly is not true because you got in the phd program. Thanks a lot!
waqasm Posted February 28, 2006 Posted February 28, 2006 My profile: B.Eng. Electronics Engineering- 87% University of Hull, Uk Ranked 1/45. The 2nd round recommendations go up to early April even. I do not know anyone else who got accepted. BTW i have received rejections from Berkeley and Princeton on 23/24th. I wonder why hmm but still awaiting MIT.. anyone? any news P.S. Just heard from Stanford again. Iv been offered a Stanford Graduate Fellowship, covering first three years!
Guest Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 My friend heard from Columbia last week. He got accepted for an MS
Guest Samantha Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Isn't it pretty standard to be notified by 3/15? It's 3/13 and I haven't gotten a decision from Caltech, RPI, or Rutgers. Called RPI and they said they were still reviewing EEs. Someone earlier in this thread said Rutgers had not started and is gonna take a while. And Caltech... who knows? I only see one "unofficial" EE PhD admit for them in the "results" section. I don't want this dragged out any longer!
vlsiguy Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I still have not heard from Caltech either.....or UIUC! Not sure what is going on.
Guest Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Got a letter of acceptance from UIUC on Friday 3/10. Was postmarked 3/3/06. They are having a recruitment weekend 3/30-3/31.
Guest Samantha Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 vlsiguy, have you heard from Caltech yet? I called the EE department secretary today and she told me that some research groups are admitting NO ONE this year. She then gave me the name of the professor that was reviewing my application and said that I should email him and ask if he's admitting anyone. I emailed the guy earlier today and haven't gotten a response yet. If it turns out that he says they aren't admitting anyone to his group, I'm going to be livid. It's freaking March 16! If they were going to not admit anyone, why didnt they TELL ANY OF THE APPLICANTS YET?! Holy shit, that pisses me off.

I will call tomorrow and see what the hell is going on with my app. I dont understand why they can;t update us with any info. Like if i have already been denied, send me something at least...or like you said, if groups aren't admitting anyone, at least let us know. And I am still not sure what is going on with MIT or UIUC. I have got some decent admits already, but I wish these other schools could at least tell me something about what's going on... It is so late already.
Guest eehopeful Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I applied to Caltech also, and I think Caltech professors usually contact the applicant directly long before the official decisions are made. I hate to say this, but it doesn't look very promising if we haven't heard from them by now...
