AFX^79 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi All! I am new here. I was selected as a finalist for an ETA in Venezuela. Does anyone know the usually timeline for the selection process for this country? Also how do I find the spread sheet that people are referring to? Hey there, looks like there are just two of us on this blog, as of right now. Where are you hoping to get placed?
StephanieJ Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 For future reference and all you that are curious. My university's program director just forwarded me an email from IIE (I think). Anyways, it said there were 35 applicants, 15 recommended, and 10 actual ETA grants.
ALSimon Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Dear Spain Research Fulbrighters Contacted Rachel (to make sure our timetable wasn't different from ETA time-table) and she said we would hear back either this week or next (so I guess all Spain folk will find out at the same time), keep clicking refresh, I guess..... On another note, anyone else want to swap essays, I read one and it was really good, curious to see a few more, if any one is willing. I will share mine with you. PM me your email address and I will get it to you this evening when I am off work.
jeb266 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I got notification today at 11:57am from Rachel about my application status for an ETA to Hungary.... Because I like to torture myself (and love my husband so much), I am continuing this waiting game and am going to open it tonight when I am home with my husband I'll let you know the results tomorrow boxoatoc 1

jahanzlik Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 It's wonderful to hear everyone's great news. I'm (im)patiently waiting to hear from the Netherlands. Based on the last 4 year's notification dates, I'm estimating April 10th. Just found out this am that my back-up school funding fell through. Really hard to keep my Fulbright hopes up in light if this devastating news. Waiting on Netherlands as well. Are you ETA or full grant?
MedievalHistory1124 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Has anyone heard anything about Italy? Based on the spreadsheet of past notification dates, this could/should be the week.
Ldemarigny Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I am a recommended candidate for Macedonia.. and I am still waiting, and its killing me. I need to make my plans for the Fall but can't until I hear back. Anyone else think its a bit off that they make us wait this long? Feels very last minute to me.
Espanya2013 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Congrats! Are you doing the ETA or the Full Grant? Congrats Eric Bee and the new wave of folk who have heard back so far.....
nkl1201 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Waiting on Netherlands as well. Are you ETA or full grant? Hi! I'm a full. I didn't think that they have ETA for NL. What's your proposal about?
jahanzlik Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi! I'm a full. I didn't think that they have ETA for NL. What's your proposal about? I am going to model bone ingrowth into orthopaedic implants. There is a research group that specializes in this at Radbound University. What is your plan of study/research? Where will you be located?
couscous90 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Called Jermaine out of impatience; got his answering machine. When the time came to actually leave a name and number, I chickened Soooo hopefully someone else has more courage to talk to him and see what's up with MENA... I just bet they're going to let us know on the 15th. Just a feeling.
jahanzlik Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Anyone else also in Biomedical Engineering and applied for the Whitaker? I think they are releasing the results for that soon too. This waiting game is so painful!
kanka Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hello all you lovely Fulbrighters and future Fulbrighters, Long time lurker, first time poster here and I break my silence because I come bearing news for all you Turkey ETA people out there. Another Fulbright finalist and myself got in contact with Rachel the other day and she told us notifications would probably be sent out in.... wait for it.... 1-2 months (yes, months! and yes, we almost fainted as well). Feeling utterly depressed we decided to contact the Fulbright people in Ankara. The women in Ankara told us that they have not yet finished the selection process, but that they hope to finish it very soon. Once they finish, their decisions must then travel through the bureaucratic channels of the Turkish education system and then, finally, we will be notified. But dont despair just yet, at the end she told us that they hoped this process would only take 1-2 more weeks! So, long story short... it could be anywhere between 1 week and 2 months! lol But, I think it will be more around the 1-2 week timeframe (or at least my sanity hopes so). Cheers! oa0176 1

zambezijen Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi all. Just to touch base for other folks waiting to hear from sub Saharan Africa regional countries--- I touched base with Jermaine last Friday and he said that they hadn't yet alerted Fulbright to their choices! He didn't sound terribly optimistic but figured that if the process were similar to the past couple of years, notifications would be made by mid-late April.... fingers crossed!~
northmc75 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Anyone else also in Biomedical Engineering and applied for the Whitaker? I think they are releasing the results for that soon too. This waiting game is so painful! Yeah I applied for Whitaker as well. I believe we were supposed to know "end of March." I can't handle the suspense!! Although no one else at my school had heard back either so I am not sad about it yet. I called Sabeen a few times last week but always got her message machine :-\
