aeliz900 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I applied to graduate school this past March, for a Master's Degree. The application deadline was the first week of May, 2011. It is mid July and I still have not heard a response from the graduate school regarding my acceptance. I have e-mailed my department and the grad admissions office and no one can give me a real answer as to what my status is. When I check my status online it just says "no decision available yet". So I'm wondering if I should still wait or try and continue to call or email someone? Orientation starts August 15, it just seems so late. Is it possible they will never tell me and I just assume I didn't get in?? Thanks

I applied to a school in December had an interview in March and never heard from them again. I'm guessing they will never let me know if I was accepted (even though I'm sure I was rejected). It appears some schools never let you know so you may want to keep asking.
mechengr2000 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 This is totally absurd and also obnoxious. Did you submit your application on time? You need to call them! What did their previous responses say? To keep waiting? This is a very bad sign - reconsider if you want to go to school here, if you have other options available to you.

Yes, I submitted my application almost two months before the due date. I have emailed the department and the graduate school office and the first time they said they were making final decisions and the second email was kind of vague. Just kind of "I'm not sure of your status, I will forward this email to the program manager" Since then, nothing.

In the mean tym try calling them. And most importantly be +ve
fiber0ptik Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Hang in there buddy! This seems very weird but you should definitely call!!! Actually, you should've called already!!! I hate when some schools act like this, not telling you what is going on. I wish you all the best bro!!!
biochick2012 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I am in a very similar situation. I applied to a Masters program in Biology in April which had a June 1st deadline. I had not heard anything since mid May, so mid June I started callng the admissions office. The comittee told me that decisions were being made and all of the letter were being sent out and I should know by the end of the week. It is now a month later and still have no decision. I have left messages and no one has called me back. I check the mail, email, and answering machine everyday and no answer yet! You are not alone don't worry!

I emailed them numerous times and all they did was give me the same vague BS over and over again. Then, many months later (even after I had applied for and gotten my study permit to Canada), they sent me an email saying I had been rejected. Very disrespectful and lame. I wasn't surprised at the rejection -- after the emails that gave me no clear indication of what was going on, I just assumed I had been rejected. I'd recommend that you do the same. At any rate I would not want to go to a school that treats its graduate students like that. It's not your loss if you get rejected -- it's theirs. Edited July 23, 2011 by TheSquirrel

As much as you want to go to grad school, at some point you need to value yourself and realize that the school is not treating you with respect if they do not provide you with timely responses.
