ktel Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I know some of you have already moved, but I'm not moving until August 25th and it can't come soon enough. While I'm glad my summer research project is finally moving again, it is getting tiresome, and I'm ready to be done with it. I also can't wait to be in a new city, new apartment, new rugby team, meeting new people. Not to mention I'm sick of long distance with my boyfriend. I want to know what classes I'll be taking (the list isn't up yet ) and whether I'll get a TA position or not (for some extra cash). In short, this next month can't go by fast enough! Anyone else impatient?
nehs Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 me too!!! I am waiting for the Fall classes to start and the clases start in the last week of August for me. Wish, days pass by soon! From where are you moving? I'm not really moving but waiting to start off(and finish off too)
TheSquirrel Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Me too. I haven't gone home to visit family over the summer, and just about everyone has left the city, which means that most of the people I hung out with regularly are no longer around, and it's been rather boring. That, and the fact that I'm excited about the TAshi/RAship and courses I'll be taking, and generally being in the school "mood". I feel like I'm not so productive over the summer, and it gets on my nerves. I need a tighter schedule.
Mal83 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 moving across country in a week and a half to start a very new chapter in life...I am absolutely beyond ready to make the move.
long_time_lurker Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Nooooooo! There's plenty of time for work, and not enough time for play! I feel like July flew by! Here's to some more mornings with no alarm, lazy days by the beach, and nights out! I am excited though, and happy for you guys and gals that you are too!
eco_env Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I'm too nervous and worried to be excited, but I guess I wish it was Sept already so I can have the transition to grad school and "adulthood" behind me.
kyjin Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I'm moving in a week and a half and can't wait! I spent more time at home this summer than I wanted to (my program in Japan was canceled, so three extra months at home ), so I'm reaching the breaking point. I'm extra excited since I get to move early to go to an academic conference as soon as I get there!
ZeeMore21 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Will be relocating in 2 weeks! Very excited to be in a new location and around new people! Classes don't start until Aug. 24th though.
Agradatudent Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 My classes do not start until late sept..... Ive been reading my clAss books. When i have time
ktel Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 I just got back from a visit to my future city (Toronto) and am now extra impatient. My boyfriend and I went shopping for several things for our apartment (bought a bed and a TV) and have our Ikea list ready for the end of the month. And I got to drive his new car! Miss him tons now that I'm back home again and won't see him for another 3 weeks.
knigis Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I'm so excited for school to start already! My program starts the 25th
supplicant Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 (edited) I'm staying local, so I'll be dropping by my university this afternoon to get my student card/HR registration/account settled before the rush. Then I need to rewrite one of the papers I'll be using for my research proposal. Then I need to write my actual research proposal. It'd be mildly inconvenient for me if September got here faster. On the plus side, this is going to have to be the last time I procrastinate. Edited August 3, 2011 by supplicant
blackshirt Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I just received my new graduate school's orientation schedule today and I must say I'm soooo excited! I can't wait to move into a new apartment and get furniture and a transit pass and sign up for classes and buy supplies and attend orientation! All of this makes me feel a little childish (in other words, it reminds me of freshman year of college) but I've had a fairly boring summer so I'm excited to be busied with a new city and a new life! The only things I'm worried about are:Getting all my stuff there safely (no lost luggage or lost packages in the mail)Finding the perfect, or at least a good, apartment in my price range on fairly short order in a mostly unfamiliar areaMoney, of course.
far_to_go Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I'm done with my first year of grad school, but I've spent this past summer doing fieldwork/language learning in a relatively difficult-to-live-in "3rd world" country. I'm looking forward to school starting, but I'm also just looking forward to getting back to the US for a nice hot shower, And a burrito. After that, I'll be ready for classes!
ktel Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 I'm starting to get annoyed at the lack of communication from my grad school. Nothing to say they've received my NSERC Payment Activation Form and no indication that they've processed my request to register without payment. I still don't know when the courses will be and am unable to register anyways. In addition, I wouldn't have known about the TA application if I hadn't been diligent on checking their homepage. I guess that's what you get when you go to the largest university in Canada. On a funny note my undergrad institution e-mailed me yesterday to ask about my NSERC award as they hadn't received my payment activation form. No duh, I'm not going there for grad school. They're not particularly small either.
psyched for psych Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 My program actually starts on the 30th so I am actually ready to move back.
