sputnik Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 ...who blew off writing your thesis and now have to scramble to get it done before you start your PhD program in a few weeks? Or is it just me? Safferz and neuropsych76 1 1
Zencarrot Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 You're not alone. I'm scrambling to get my thesis written for my defense in August and data collection hasn't even finished yet. I "procrastinated" by doing presentations at two conferences and taking an extra class my second year. My CV looks great but this month is going to be hell.
jblsmith Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Haha, I'm in the exact same situation. I'm defending on the 9th and I leave for my Ph.D. on the 11th. It's not so much the thesis, but the university's red tape that I have to cut through in order to gradaute.
ogopo Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Yeah... I'm leaving on the 21st and I'm still writing. I will actually have to fly back to defend sometime in September. I have told my new advisor about this and he's ok. I just hope they don't kick me out of my new program :/
wtncffts Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 i didn't even know such a thing was possible. The school you're going to doesn't require proof of degree earned before starting the program? Mine did. That's not just finishing the thesis, but actually having it approved and graduating, which in my case was months after submitting it. Well, good luck to you all!
PhDMan Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 you can always defer admission by a semester or two
