Jersey Shore? It's on RIGHT NOW

Get crazy, get wild.... actually I have a hard time watching that show sometimes because that's all the people who are my neighbors. It's a guilty pleasure making fun of them though.

Back on topic, and I can't believe no one mentioned this: Curb Your Enthusiasm!!

A lot of what I watch are shows that I didn't see when they originally ran (because that was before I was born/old enough to appreciate the show/aware of the show/into the genre). Or shows that are more recent but that I didn't have the time to watch at first or decided that I'd rather watch on DVD. Lots of sci-fi and similar - B5, ST:DS9/TNG/TOS, Farscape, SG-1, SG:A, Firefly, Life on Mars (the British version). My husband and I recently got through Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles, and we've been watching the silly X-Men cartoon from the early '90s. We are slowly working our way through the '60s spy parody Get Smart.

As for modern shows that I watch as they are actually running, the main ones are Archer (<3 irreverent James Bond parodies), the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, and Futurama. Also, the Walking Dead, but it has been awhile since the season ended, and it's too intense for me to want to rewatch a bunch of episodes while waiting for the new season. I'd watch Sherlock regularly if there were more episodes...silly Brits with their short seasons.

Most of my favorite shows are cancelled, or just off the air but I rewatch them over and over. :)

  • The X-Files
  • Buffy (almost finished my 3rd time through the series)
  • Firefly
  • MacGyver (damn straight!)
  • Veronica Mars
  • Gilmore Girls
  • Dollhouse
  • Six Feet Under

I also watch "current" shows, though I don't actually watch them on TV because of no cable and hating commercials so much. But I try to keep up with

    • Supernatural
    • Breaking Bad
    • Dexter
    • True Blood
    • Fox cartoons (Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, etc.)

Jeez, I guess I watch a lot of TV... But I can always claim "film major" and "media studies concentration" as my excuse. :P

It's also pretty easy to watch Netflix on my iPad while working out, so that's also a good excuse for watching a ton of TV (;

  • Gilmore Girls

So glad someone mentioned Gilmore Girls, definitely my favorite TV show of all time!

Shows currently on TV that I try to keep up with:

House

Glee

How I Met Your Mother

Community

30 Rock

Parks and Recreation

Futurama

Project Runway (when it's on)

The Office

I also got addicted to Modern Family last quarter (a friend let me borrow the first season on DVD), but since I'm a season behind I think I'll save my catching up for next summer (or winter, since I'll be dealing with snow for the first time in my life and I'm sure I won't want to venture out much at first, haha). I watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report most nights, too.

I watch Mad Men! So glad it's on Netflix now, since I don't own an actual TV.

Other faves:

- Family Guy

- Law and Order SVU

- Glee

- The Office

- House

- Big Bang Theory

I'm thinking about starting Dexter, based on strong recs from friends. However, I hate that it's not streaming on Netflix... getting the discs in the mail takes such a loooong time. Ha, I can't believe how impatient I am!

Also, not exactly TV, but my roomies and I do make time for a weekly movie night. It's a great house tradition.
