sabrinamichelle Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 (edited) i know i should be contacting potential advisors right about now, but i am so nervous! i feel like i would just bother them and i'm afraid everything i say will just sound annoying and desperate. how did you get around this? how do you frame the email? do you just basically say "this is what i want to research, do you like it?" ??? Neuronista Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Hi, You can also check this blog http://science-professor.blogspot.com/2007/12/writing-to-me.html I'm currently contacting POI's based on the advice given in the above blog post. So far, I've got quite positive responses. The worst scenario is that the professor may be too busy to reply, but if that won't give you any benefit, it won't hurt you either! Good luck starmaker 1
InquilineKea Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Wow - that's such an amazing email. How rare are these sorts of emails? One Stanford physics professor I know said that they're very rare.
