sconnors
There are approximately FIVE results for Atmospheric Science when I search the acceptance/rejections area on the site! So I want to know....is there anyone else out there? and where are you applying?
Abiogenic Gas
Well, I'm in the Earth Sciences (Geophysics to be exact). You can see where I'm applying in my signature below. I've been a lurker for quite some time, and I'd generally say that there are very few posters in our study area.
sunnys
Atmospheric Science here as well. The schools im applying to are in my signature. There is definitely a lack of posts in this subject area. Hey klew12, you and I are applying to some of the same schools. Have you heard back from any of them yet? Abiogenic Gas
Haven't heard back from any schools yet though I did have an interview/level of interest phone call last week from a prof at BU. What I wonder is that there are certainly less people that apply for graduate school in the Earth Sciences compared to the other sciences, but is that a good thing for probability of admission? sunnys
One would think that our probability would be higher compared to other sciences. But i guess it matters on factors that we might not know about. For example, maybe since Earth Sciences is generally a smaller dept they might have a smaller budget to work with. This i believe would make our probability lower. And if schools get enough applicants to be selective, that makes it even more competitive. This is only one hypothetical scenario though. I think the whole probability thing can be approached in numerous ways which could help us or hurt us.
