Grunty DaGnome Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Is anyone else interested in this sub-field/interdisciplinary approach? Better yet, is anyone already in a graduate program that offers this emphasis? If so, I'd love to hear about it.
yank in the M20 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Ravit Reichman, I think her name is, at Brown. I don't go there, just know from researching the school and speaking to one of her advisees.
Grunty DaGnome Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Yes, I'm aware of her. What did her advisee say about working with her? Is she very involved as an advisor? And does she concentrate on Law and Lit or is it more of a side interest [if you know].
yank in the M20 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 He said she was great--no more details, sorry. He mentioned the law work as a serious interest, but very tied up with the war lit/Modernism stuff, if I remember correctly.
perrykm2 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I've seen a lot of this tooling around department faculty pages. Doesn't Duke have a joint PhD/JD?
generic31290 Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I've seen a lot of this tooling around department faculty pages. Doesn't Duke have a joint PhD/JD? UCI just started one: http://uci.edu/features/2011/11/feature_interdisciplinary_111107.php
Grunty DaGnome Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 UCI has unofficially had one for a while. Brook Thomas is very well knows for his work on Henry James and contract law. There are several islands of Law and Literature floating around out there in the sea of English Departments and American Studies faculties, but I wonder if anyone on these boards takes an interest, if it's mainstream in any of your departments or if this kind of work will always take a back seat to Foucault and Kristeva?
