  1. this is interesting because the idea of having 2 start over again makes me want to die.
  2. osu. toaster and academicat, facebook friendship?? https://www.facebook.com/kathrynperry
  3. i don't think that is funny at all. me love kate chopin long time. get it. it's a joke. (eyerolls)
  4. i'm not going to be there but ive already accepted so if any of you decide to go to osu, we should be fb friends.
  5. i was under the impression that waves means rolling admissions, but… who knows?
  6. any time you are getting money for being smart and/or teaching it looks good.
  7. bhr, i submitted my stuff late and it wasn't a problem.
  8. osu does a rolling admissions thing so i wouldn't despair about that app yet.
  9. the diff is that duke lit is the coolest program in the universe.
  10. they're also bringing in two new faculty members next year who are both really cool.
  11. miami's ma program is a good choice. hope you considered it. you can also work with some people there who can definitely feed you into fancier programs like purdue. it's also like the high priority program in the department so they get the most opportunities to do interesting things and teach interesting classes, even at the ma level.
  12. i love the macbook air because of its ssd which means you can drop it on the ground 1000 times and it never dies. i would recommend it.
  13. it depends on the program. the best thing to do is to email the director of graduate studies before you submit an app, if you're still submitting.
  14. i see you applied to many schools, though, so i will leave you alone. just know i will be on the internet. waiting.
  15. i probably won't be there for the open house because i hate them and also don't have a car. i am a super awesome friend to have though because i am from columbus so i know where all of the delicious treats are located.
  16. this is some advice i wish i had gotten, though. if you have unlimited money or need conference experience now, go to every pca/aca anything. however, unless you study pop culture, though, and maybe even if you do, these conferences don't count much on your cv or with admission/job search committees. the experience is awesome and fun and you go to cool panels, but you don't really get great feedback or networking opportunities. i'm not spitting on them because i know this from going to… i don't know, 4-5 of them, including their national conferences. but it's something to keep in mind.
  17. are any of y'all that got offers from osu definitely accepting? cause i have already accepted the offer for their eng program. of course, i only applied to one school. if so, let's be fb friendsies.
  18. Yes, Miami U has a funded MA. It's pretty nice. The MA students get a lot of attention.
  19. One of the professors I consulted with told me to leave this site and never come to it again after I told her about it.
  20. Reminds me of a bit from White Noise: "I understand the music, I understand the movies, I even see how comic books can tell us things. But there are full professors in this place who read nothing but cereal boxes."
  21. This site just blows up sometimes. It's like a digital tinderbox.
