pomo Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 I applied to one program that begins in January and haven't heard yet. I submitted in early November, but my third recommender waited until the deadline to submit her letter. I know it hasn't been very long since the deadline (12/1), but if admitted, I'd really like to take the offer and the idea of registering so close to the beginning of the semester totally freaks me out! Plus, I will be traveling out of the country soon and want to be available for any administrative issues should they arise. AND I'm getting married in February, so life is already pretty crazy and knowing whether I'll be in school come January would really make me feel less panicky. Agh! Is anyone else still waiting on a spring semester decision? I can't stop checking my phone--I am so jumpy!
baer Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 (edited) Me, too. all supporting documents was received on Oct 22. However, I haven't heard anything from McMaster. In addition, on the dept. webpage it is written that all offers for winter term (commencing on Jan 5th) have now been completed" and also neither graduate secretary nor my future supervisor (if I am admitted) didn't reply my emails inquiring about any progress on my application. therefore, I no longer hope that I will be admitted. Next email from the department will be probably rejection notification. Best luck to you! Edited December 10, 2011 by baer
ShiWei Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Bahaha, I figured I wasn't the only one in this boat. I have a similar situation to the OP. I applied to two history masters, but only heard back from one so far; that one isn't offering financial aid, oddly enough. I'm going to give it another week before shooting the second program a call. Speaking of which, Baer have you tried contacting them by phone to inquire? Emails sometimes get lost (or are justified as such), so calling can be more reliable. Worst case scenario is that they tell you they don't know or inform you of a rejection. Even then, it still provides closure. Good luck! PS: Woah, a Fukuyama quote? Brings me back to the days of 'ending history' in Comparative Politics.
pomo Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 PS. I got into the program I was waiting on, but am now trying to get them to let me push to fall so I can see how other things work out...like FUNDING!
