I've been following my status on OSU's website (which I believe is ApplyYourself), and it went from Evaluation (saying it was submitted to the academic department for evaluation) to Academic Review (which says "Your application has been sent to the graduate department for academic review"). Does anyone know if this is a good sign? I just need ONE acceptance from one school to stunt the growth of my ulcer...

I have the same status. I don't think it's nesscary a "good thing," but it does mean that the admission committe is moving along in terms of reviewing the applications. We might hear soon!

hmm I have an applyyourself school and it just says "submitted." (it's been like that since December)The message probably differs from school to school though, and changes in messages I don't think mean anything until it's a definitely "sorry but..." or acceptance.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't get too excited about OSU's status page...because once it does change, it just changes to "decision."

Talk about maddening.

Thanks, all. I think I just needed to be brought back to Earth. My incredibly supportive family & friends see everything as rainbows and sunshine. :)

For what its worth -- I received an email from U Michigan today indicating that my application is complete and has been forwarded to the Admissions Committee for review. The reason I am posting is that they also said, "You may have tried accessing this information on-line using Wolverine Access. We are not updating the Web Application Status this academic year." I don't know if this is for just Higher Ed or for other programs as well, but thought others would like to know (in case you are checking daily as I was).

I really think that if you have to interpret your status they haven't decided yet. I'd bet that when they've made final decisions, it would be quite obvious where you are.

Hmm I just checked those two earlier today (as always); could you elaborate on this blurb you speak of?

"Your application has been sent to the Admissions Committee for review. Please note that the length of review can vary; a representative from the Department will contact you and notification will be posted on this page when a decision has been made. If you have questions during the review process you may contact the Academic Coordinator within your Department / Program. The Admissions Office does not release decision information. Note: Incomplete documents below are still required."

The most annoying thing that happened to me today was a mail in the inbox from my first choice school re: your application to xyz program. I waited for my superslow cell phone to download the message, only to receive a "we have all of your papers and will review them now." Duh, they have had them for two months. grrr...

I had something like that too...

Infuriating yes, but it would have been much more panic inducing if they were missing documents.

(also we are in the same situation with your other post about not talking about grad school with your SO. Yay extra stress!)

That's mine too, but we applied through Bloomberg SPH rather than JHU GSAS.
