wintergirl Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 yes, please tell us about the Stanford skype interviews. DITTO.
rawera Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yes, and I've also made note of their area code: 650. Oh, god... what have I turned into? I did this today. A poor decision on my part. I also wanted to bump the Stanford thread, but I didn't want to give anyone a heart attack. rainy_day 1
rainy_day Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I did this today. A poor decision on my part. I also wanted to bump the Stanford thread, but I didn't want to give anyone a heart attack. This was very kind of you!!! It most certainly would have induced a number of heart attacks, I fear.
0000000000AAA Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 So I've just setup my gmail account to forward a message to my (non-smart) phone every time I get an email from certain domains...like @ucla, or @unc, @stanford.... This has to end, right?
thestage Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 yeah, this stanford thing is kinda killing me right now
0000000000AAA Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) I'm trying desperately to forget the three digit area code for stanford. And also regretting that I didn't apply to Northwestern. What's one more school when you've got 15 already on your list? EDIT: And it's now the 26th of January. We are in a realm in which it wouldn't be ridiculous to actually hear from schools. Edited January 26, 2012 by WellSpring
marlowe Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 It is NORTHWESTERN DAY! (as in last year, today was Northwestern Day). We need to rush the "Chat Room" en masse when shit starts going down. ahembree 1

effess Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Just freaked out at the WashU posting on the results thread - "Other" postings are now my least favorite thing!
indalomena Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I wonder if I should give up gradcafe for the next two months, I have a feeling this could get ridiculously painful UNLESS I GET IN Grunty DaGnome and Two Espressos 2
marlowe Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Sorry for the mini-infarction, indalomena.
0000000000AAA Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) There's a Northwestern admit up on the board. Whoever it is: CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited January 26, 2012 by WellSpring
Timshel Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 There's a Northwestern admit up on the board. Whoever it is: CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just about to post the same thing. I'm glad someone got an early decision that was positive. Congrats!
takethiswaltz Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Apparently someone has gotten wait-listed at Yale! Good luck!
thestage Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 isn't it a little weird to wait list people before admitting anyone?
takethiswaltz Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Yeah, it does strike me as weird. Maybe they meant to select "Other"? Anyone care to claim this result?
losingeffingmarbles Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Evidently, they didn't spell 'Yale' with a '6' on the SOP
0000000000AAA Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 ...as much as I dislike waiting, this is better than applying! At least now we are delightfully out of control.
rainy_day Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 ...as much as I dislike waiting, this is better than applying! At least now we are delightfully out of control. I believe this whole process tells us much about ourselves. For example, I am neurotic and an utter control freak, and find this excruciatingly more painful specifically because it is out of my control. Tybalt 1
0000000000AAA Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 it's like a rorschach test...but one that costs thousands of dollars. wreckofthehope, ecritdansleau, andsoitgoes161 and 1 other 4
koolherc Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 it's like a rorschach test...but one that costs thousands of dollars. thumbs up for this line
Refresh refresh Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Does anyone know which schools interview for comp lit, specifically do u michigan or ut austin interview before they make their decision?
JeremiahParadise Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Just wanted to say that, as a person who's not applying until next fall, watching you all wait for these decisions is really exciting to me. No, I'm not a sadist or anything. It's just that I know it's crazy stressful, but you're at the verge of a major, life-changing event, and I think that's awesome/exciting. Keep it cool (as best you can) and remember to enjoy the interim -- if things work out, you'll never be back in this time/place in your life again! Savor friends/family/freetime (what little you might have) for now. Who knows, you might need to start planning a cross-country/Atlantic move pretty soon!
Grunty DaGnome Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Apparently someone has gotten wait-listed at Yale! Good luck! Well, it wasn't me, but I did notice it was a "waitlist/other" entry and the comment stated that Yale doesn't do interviews for the English PhD. I think this comment was left by a Yale hopeful who called the department asking about interviews and thought they would share their info/spare the Yale English Department similar calls from Grad Cafe readers.
