Aletheia Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Hey, so I know you all get tired of these types of questions, but any feedback would be helpful as I have been unable to find any stats on PTS other than accepted/applied %. I am applying to PTS for an MDiv and was wondering my chances. I will have a BA in Religious Studies with a 3.35, I have training in Greek and have worked along side one of my professors editing Byzantine Manuscripts, and I have a couple years experience with my campus ministry. If you need more details just ask. Thanks. *I am mostly worried about my GPA since I couldn't find their avg gpa of accepted students.
RD_Paul Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I spent time talking with one of the PTS profs when I visited there in the fall, and he said that PTS admits about 50% of each application class. Your background is certainly such that you are firmly within that 50%. No worries. I met a lot of people who didn't even have a background in Religious Studies at all, let alone Greek and experience in a campus ministry. Hope this helps.
kjdin06 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I'm presently in enrolled at PTS in the M.Div. program. I would say you're probably going to get in. Admittance rates fluctuate each year. I've had friends and professors who graduated from PTS going all the way back to the 80's. Admittance rates fluctuate between 15-50%. It's really quite odd and just depends on the year. I'd guess that you have a very good chance of getting in though.
O_Porcupine Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Does anyone have any information on the PTS MA in theological studies? I crossed it off my list but am now realizing that the app isn't due until mid-April. Is it worth a shot? Getting nervous not hearing back about funding yet from Duke! Essentially, I am fishing for non-Presbyterian acceptance/financial aid info.
Lux Lex Pax Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 It's my understanding that the MA in Theological Studies is only for international students. U.S. students may only apply to the M.Div., Th.M., and MA in Christian Education degree programs.
Guest Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 What about MDiv/MA Youth Ministry applicants? Do they have a harder battle to fight in terms of admittance or are they subjected to about the same standards?
sacklunch Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I assume they get more funding. I know several MDiv's here at BC who got full rides, where many of the MTS students (including me) did not.

Generally correct, I know several current and past MDiv students and while I obviously don't know all of them, I haven't encountered an MDiv student yet who wasn't given at least 50% funding. foodtruck, tacotruck, TheHymenAnnihilator and 1 other 4
