royo0210 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) @wassermelone and @joega1111, the funding stuff is a total mystery. They offered me a two-year fellowship with a $23,000 stipend, and then for the next two years teaching duties with a stipend of $17,000 and then a dissertation-writing fellowship. I don't really understand it, nor am I completely sure of what a "good" offer is. @joega1111, I technically applied for Victorian literature and my work thus far has been on Henry James, but I think I will probably edge up to fin-de-siecle or early modernist literature eventually. What about you? Berkeley was one of my top-choices fit-wise, but I am from the East Coast/NYC, so I am not so enthusiastic about moving all the way across the country. I still have the rest of my schools to hear back from (although I've assumed implicit rejection from NYU, UChicago and UCLA) and so we'll see what happens, but I am definitely taking Berkeley seriously. I believe I am also visiting in March, so I guess I'll see you there! Edited February 10, 2012 by royo0210
bigrelief Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Berkeley update--got a "short wait list" email with an invitation to come to their visit weekend in March. What does this mean?? Is there a long wait list? I'm emailing them back for more details.

Enzian Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Just denied by Berkeley Rhetoric via email directing to website. Good luck to those still in the running!
WaxesPoetic Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 To those who have been accepted in to the program, would you be willing to provide any insight as to what your application/resume looks like? (GPA, GRE (Subject) scores, unique studies/projects, etc.?) Did you apply straight from undergrad, or did you take a hiatus before applying? Your insight is greatly appreciated. Congrats to those who were accepted!
wintergirl Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Any guesses as to when UCB might deign to send out our (presumed) rejection notices? Ready to put that final nail in the coffin of my crushed California dreams. GuateAmfeminist 1
hazelbite Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I'm getting a bit impatient waiting for this rejection. Almost 2 mos since the first acceptances!
GuateAmfeminist Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I was just thinking about this today! It has to be a rejection but why don't they just tell me - it's my last hold-out.
HunkyDory Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Just emailed Lee Parsons since I hadn't heard back yet. Said I should have been notified already but I was rejected. I haven't seen any other responses of rejection on the results page, so I don't know what happened that seemed to have dropped the ball on that? My status page online still isn't updated either.
